I brought my wedding set in to John Atencio at the Flat Irons Mall for an appraisal. I provided the stone certificate as well as the original appraisal from when the ring was made. Several weeks later when the appraisal was completed, I picked up the wedding set, paid the appraisal fee, then looked at the appraisal document. The details of the ring were wrong which reflected a lower value. The store manager acknowledged this discrepancy and was going to resend the stone certificate and past appraisal back to the John Atencio appraiser and ask for this to be corrected. I was promised that the official hard copy of a corrected appraisal would be mailed to me. Over the past 3 months there have been phone calls, emails and texts between me and the store manager regarding this updated appraisal. She unofficially gave me information from the updated appraisal but some of the details were still incorrect. In addition, the promised hard copy of the corrected appraisal has not yet been received. Currently this is the only appraiser John Atencio had working with them, so my request to have a second appraiser appraise the wedding set could not be accommodated. I was told that at some future time there may be someone else who could do it, but currently they had no other person. I was verbally offered that they would do that appraisal at no cost once they had someone else, but was not offered a refund for the $225 I paid for what is a useless appraisal. I believed John Atencio to be a very reputable jewelry store and have been shocked at their failure to resolve this situation or refund my payment. Admittedly, I made a mistake in paying for this service prior to reviewing the appraisal document, but I never imagined I would run into this type of a situation and that the company would not value it's customer and it's reputation enough to...
