The Walker — Local services in Cary

UPDATE: Received my check after 57 days, with a “thank you for your patience” note.

**Here’s the kicker: in another envelope was a “late fee” notice for renter’s insurance, which I have submitted 3x (see email attached on April 13th). They almost did the right thing … but couldn’t pull it off. So disappointing!

The generic/AI response (below) doesn’t help the situation and “customer service” won’t help with the issue if the office won’t do anything. I now see why reviews are pushed during move in, because eventually the truth surfaces. It’s been 56 days and I still do not have my rent/deposit returned.

I’ve lived here almost two months and so far I would not recommend! There are things they can control/change and things they have no control over (noisy park, parking, and neighbors). One item they could control was that I was transferred to another apartment on move day (Nicole was amazing!). I provided first month rent and deposit on the original apartment, as of now almost 8 weeks later they still have not returned the almost $4000. I get excuses and no follow through or told, “it’s in the mail” - which was sent to the wrong address, then to be told a “random person” found it, to come get your check and the next day when I go to pick it up I’m told it was canceled, and to replace the check - “it’s up to corporate” which goes against their own lease and NC Landlord/Tenant State Statues. I moved into the Walker about a month and a half or two months ago and it's probably the best decision I've ever made as far as WHERE I want to live and HOW I want to live. The people in the community here are amazing. It's incredibly friendly, open, and positive. It's hard not to feel like there's something good and right when you walk in and talk with the team or meet your neighbors.

And then the physical place is just amazing. I tell everybody I've got the best apartment in Cary. A world class downtown park is my backyard. Restaurants, bars, and camaraderie are all just a short walk away. The place is alive and vibrant during the day and in the evening, yet peaceful and Serene at night. There's no place I'd rather be actually than sitting on my back deck, watching the lively Park during the day or listening to the frogs at night.

The Walker is more than a building to me. It's had a huge positive impact on my lifestyle. If you're looking for a place that is energizing positive, and also happens to have probably the best location in the entire region, there's no better...

We moved into the Walker 6 months ago and have loved living here! Nicole and Hannah are fantastic! They have helped to create a community that is fun and inviting. The social events they organize are a lot of fun and a nice chance to meet your neighbors. Both Nicole and Hannah always have a smile ready for you and genuinely seem to care about any frustration you may be having. The maintenance team is also top notch. Mike goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable asking any questions, and is always very quick to fix any issue we have ever had, even during the busy Christmas season!

The only reason I making this 4 stars instead of 5 is the "managed" internet situation with Spectrum is not ideal, and the parking garage is pretty frustrating as it seems like an easy fix of having reserved spaces for residents.
