Ronin Tattoo and Gallery — Local services in Castle Rock

I went to Ronin twice & got tatted by Ian both times. Giving 2 stars because the guys there are all super nice and the other artist seem to do good work. But Ian absolutely slaughtered my second tattoo…

First time I only got some lettering done on the top of my wrists. Looks decent, but could be crisper cause some lines are wonky or overdrawn if you look closely.

Second time I got some distorted faces tattooed on my inner arm, around my ditch.

Even with a reference image, Ian absolutely slaughtered this tattoo. Lines are wonky, broken, overdrawn. There’s absolutely no shading in places where it was needed, which makes the tattoo look unfinished and non-dimensional. Parts that are supposed to be filled in were only partially filled. Line thickness is super inconsistent.

Super bummed cause it’s been embarrassing running around with this mess & now I have to spend even more to have someone else fix it.

I got a 2 hour cover-up tattoo done on my arm by Ian a couple of days ago. He drew up exactly what I wanted (which was a black Phoenix with a skull head and some flames) and got it done in just a few days for me. His lines are clean, the color looks good and the tattoo is healing up really well so far.

I decided to go to Ronin Tattoo partially from the reviews on here but also after checking out the Instagram link from the website. I thought Ian’s artwork style was similar to what I was looking for and I was right. I’m very happy with it.

The shop is clean, everyone wore masks, staff is super friendly. Very relaxed vibes in the shop, chill music and it has a lot of natural light and a nice view since it’s on the second floor.

Overall, it was a great experience and I will be back to get more tattoos from...

Both my boyfriend and I have been here several times, and love the people, the environment, and the work. I've had 1 piece by Ian and 2 by Rae, and my boyfriend has had several by Ian and 1 by Ben. Both of us are in the middle of multi-session pieces, him with Ian and me with Rae. Everyone who works here is professional, friendly, and very talented. They work with you on what you want to make sure the piece turns out wonderfully, and will suggest ideas in a positive way to help improve pieces if it's needed. The shop is clean and comfortable, and it's clear the artists are friends and they take a lot of pride and care in what they do. The environment is relaxed, friendly, and creative, but serious where it needs to be (documentation, cleaning, etc.). We will keep coming back...
