I participated in CHT's new injury prevention for runners program, which you complete at your own convenience at home using an app on your phone. I had a great experience, as a moderately serious runner who has not given enough attention to strength and stability training in the past. Long story short, the program really helped support my running and I don't think it was a coincidence that in the half-marathon that the program was helping me build toward, I ran a PR.
Some might be skeptical of a program that is not in-person. However, I found it convenient to be able to complete the workouts at a time and place that worked for me, and also found that I still got a lot of benefits that I wouldn't have gotten just working out without the support of a trainer. Cody designs and structures all the workouts to gradually build in difficulty level, and records great videos himself to explain them. Most importantly he is super available to answer questions via the messaging function of the app - I had a few questions over the course of the program and he always provided illuminating, detailed answers and thoughtful suggestions. It's also possible to come into the studio to work on specific things or with questions, and Cody offered this option to me - in the end it turned out not to be necessary, but was good to have as an option. Additionally, the check-in function on the app, so that Cody can see your progress, provides accountability for those who, like me, don't have the discipline to stick to a training schedule completely on their own. Overall the program is perfect for those who, like me, want a program that is more flexible and affordable than in-person training, but provides more support and accountability than doing it...
Read moreI joined CHT in the fall of 2017 and immediately knew I made the right decision. Working out and reaching your fitness goals can be annoying, and a really sensitive and vulnerable process, and it really makes a difference when you not only have trainers who are supportive and hold you accountable, but you're surrounded by other people who are supportive and make all that hard work worth it. I've lost count the number of times I've recommended this gym to my friends. It is worth the investment not only because it's an investment in yourself and your health, but you're investing in a community that will have you actually look forward to going to work out, you won't mind the hard work as much, and you'll be amazed at how much fun you'll end up having. If you're on the fence, or you're like me and you were really self conscious about working out around people or just starting somewhere, please note this is a really safe, professional, and fun place to pursue and meet your health goals. You...
Read moreChapel Hill Training kept me accountable to my own goals despite COVID! Gyms are closed and especially in the summer, I like to workout outside in the (COOLER) evenings .. but once we got to June this year .. I just did NOT have it in me to do much more than knock out a short loop run and then walk. My body-weight/light weight self-circuit TOTALLY fell off the list of what I was doing, so I connected with Chapel Hill Training for a personal training package centered around accountability. Chris Rain (and Anna, when she adopted me for a couple sessions) were amazing about navigating my anxieties around new movements, not pushing me to do things that were outside of my specific goals for the way I want my body to look and feel, but busting my butt with even a 45-minute session. And mainly .. working with them safely/at a distance (and outdoors) gave me a sense of community and served as a the fun motivation I needed. I moved away from Chapel Hill, otherwise I'd still be...
