Kolapasi Is a Must-Try in Chapel Hill!

I had the pleasure of attending the soft opening of Kolapasi on Saturday, June 7th, and it was an outstanding experience! Even on day one, everything was running smoothly — the service was warm, the staff were welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious.

Kolapasi brings bold, authentic South Indian flavors to Chapel Hill with a modern, fast-casual twist. The menu is extensive, and every dish we tried was flavorful, perfectly spiced, and clearly made with care. The team even let us sample a few items before ordering, which was such a thoughtful touch.

The space is clean and inviting, perfect for a quick lunch or relaxed dinner. I’m so glad Kolapasi is now in town — it’s going to be a favorite for anyone craving quality Indian food. Highly recommended, and I can’t...

Decent for what it is - no where near 5 stars.

We decided to try this place because we were getting pickup anyhow and it had so many 5 star reviews. I’ve tried every Indian restaurant in Chapel Hill and most in Durham.

It’s a little like a cafeteria and you can assemble bowls etc. and the key thing is they allow you to taste the various dishes. The service is very friendly and I think the vibe is chipotle goes to India.

The food - we ordered several dishes - was average at best. It’s fine if you’re in a hurry and just want to grab something but none of our dishes was particularly good (it wasn’t bad, just not good). Be forewarned there’s a lot of red onion in a lot of the dishes.

Price wise I’d say it’s right in the ballpark for what you’re getting - especially with where the prices...

I recently visited Kolapasi and was blown away by the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff, and the overall welcoming vibe of the place.

The menu offers a fresh and flavorful take on Indian street food and home-style meals. Everything I tried was delicious—rich in taste but surprisingly light, making it a great and healthy alternative to places like Chipotle and Qudoba

What really made the experience stand out was the warm hospitality. The owners and staff went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome, answered questions about the dishes, and genuinely cared about our experience. That kind of service is rare in this area
