I was really trying not to leave a review but I have to because this place needs to be known about. Pros: very clean and upscale looking salon with a great drink menu. Nick the manager is very courteous but not accountable at all. After being told by him and the female representative (Kat) I spoke to before I came in, I was met with so much resistance and borderline racism when I walked in at 6:30, which I was told I could do when I spoke to the manager (didn't even know he was the manager at the time) and by the same female representative (Kat) I spoke to later who said I could come in, and who later completely walked away and dismissed me after telling me that all the nail techs who do full sets are gone for the day. I notified her and Nick when they asked me on the phone what services I would need, (soak off, full set, and gel pedicure), and they never once mentioned that the nail service Techs leave at a certain time. When I brought this up to Kat after forcing her to look up at me because she kept her head down and wouldn't even give me eye contact, she became very aggressive and combative with me, trying to make me look like the angry black female but I held my composure. She refused to give me the contact for Nick, so I found it myself, just for Nick to tell me to come back to the salon to charge me the same amount as before, didn't even offer me a discount or any resolution for my experience, and then tried to charge me for a soak-off when all he did was snatch the nails off with another fake nail, thus tearing layers and layers of my real nail off of my skin. And he still wanted to charge me for that. He eventually agreed not to after I told him he shouldn't, esp. due to my experience, but he was going to if I didn't speak up for myself, even after knowing everything. Kat and the other female nail tech that totally dismissed me, the curvier Asian chick that wears the glasses, very quiet and pretty but she was extremely rude to me too. And when I did come back to get my nails serviced by Nick, guess who was doing nails???? Hahaha! That's right, Kat and the other chick ("ms. glasses") that told me they can't do nails. So Kat is extremely racist and she's going to get reported and I'm also going to mention the experiences from the other nail techs, and my experience in general, including the sassy Asian guy with the glasses who thought I was trying to steal his money just because it was left in a bucket where Nick told me to sit. I never even laid eyes on it but I watched him as he told one of his colleagues to quickly go grab the bucket. I didn't even know there was money in it until she picked it up and there was money at the bottom. I was just sitting where I was told but once again I was treated like a criminal. I guess they like a certain shade in here but I'll stick with the establishments that like the color green over...
Read moreI’ve been visiting this nail salon for about a year now since relocating to Charlotte, and I initially found it because it is walking distance from my home. Over the past year I’ve paid a pretty penny to receive mediocre service and poor quality just for the sake of convenience, but after a recent experience there I decided that I can no longer spend my hard earned money at this establishment.
Atmosphere/cleanliness: The shop is dirty. The end. When you go in pay attention to the big and small details. Look at the light fixtures that appear to never have been dusted. The chairs that need a deep cleaning, the trash cans that are filthy on the outside, and the floors that always look like they need a deep scrub.
Quality assurance: I’ve been disappointed with the outcome of my nails more times than I’m proud to admit. Most of the nail techs do not know how to polish nails so they will miss/not polish the sides and corners of your nails. It’s so noticeable and I’ve had to ask them to correct that error many times. As for pedicures, despite purchasing the high end pedi with callus removal, parafin wax, etc., they don’t even try to scrub your feet leaving them similar to the appearance they were when you came and my feet always look incredibly dry by that night. You can’t even tell I’ve had a pedicure which is a bummer. I also used to get gel on my nails, but it would only last a week so I stopped adding gel to my service.
Service: Initially the level of service was decent, but in the last several months I’ve experienced rudeness from the reception for no apparent reason, the staff talk about their customers among themselves, and it is just an overall uncomfortable feeling. The staff don’t even appear to like each other. Despite this all I tip 20% every time because it’s the right thing to do.
In summary, I’ve finally decided that I can no longer spend my money here for sub-par service and quality simply out of convenience. Yesterday I decided to visit a different nail salon in NoDa, and although I had to drive there it was only about 7 minutes by car from Uptown and the service blew me away from the moment I walked in the door. My pedicure looks so good, feet are still soft today, unlimited champagne was had, massage chairs, the works, and the price was 30% less than I pay at J’Adore. I event got a hot stone massage and paid less.
As I read the reviews, I realized that most of the reviews are from 3 years ago which is why the higher rating is deceptive. I was told that they changed ownership so maybe that’s when it went down? If you visit J’Adore, know that you are doing so at your own risk and only to pay top dollar for a...
Read moreI’ve been a regular here since last February; came in just about every 2-3 weeks. I was always pleased with how my nails came out, the cleanliness of the place, the service, etc. Unfortunately, last week was the last time giving this place business due to their customer service, which really is a shame because I live in uptown and this place was so convenient to get to.
I get SNS with tips and had a nail break a couple days after getting them done; which is fine, it happens. I went in to try and get this nail fixed and was told it’d be about an hour. Because I had to be somewhere later in the day, I decided I’d just come back the following morning and get there early before the doors open so I’d be sure to get in right away. That morning, I was the second customer to walk in the door once they opened them and I told them about my ONE nail needing to be fixed. Keep in mind this is the same girl that waited on me the previous day and knows I’m a regular. She had me sit and soak my nail off. Of course at this point, I’m thinking someone would be with me shortly since it was a quick fix and my name was second on the sign-in sheet.
Fast forward to an hour and a half later and I walked out the door without anyone coming to fix my nail as I sat there with a soaked off nail. My mind was made up I was never returning if that’s how they treat their customers, especially ones they see on a frequent basis. I had sat there for almost a half hour before asking “is anyone going to help me?” and she told me soon. Yet there I was waiting another 45 minutes with no one saying a word to me and avoiding making eye contact with me.
Needless to say, I have looked elsewhere for a new nail salon and it really is such a disappointment because they do a nice job and the convenience to where I live. The manager needs to give a lesson on customer service and overall politeness to the girls that work at the front desk. They were well aware I was sitting there growing more and more aggravated by the fact I was being completely ignored. If it was going to be that long of a wait for the second customer of the day, why would that not get communicated to me? Why would you soak my nail off and then have me sit there for over an hour? So I left with a soaked off, broken nail and I refuse to go back. I will take my business elsewhere and make sure not to...
