Michaels — Local services in Chico

It looks like Michael's is fighting hard to gain the top spot in the "big box craft store" arena in Chico. With Joann having the lock on fabrics and sewing and Hobby Lobby having opened up around the corner; Michaels had to do some work to catch up. They have an excellent selection of frames of every style plus the custom frame department. They stock lots of canvases, paints, brushes, pens, pencils, sketchbooks, and art supplies for the painter or drawn artist. Scrapbook supplies are decent, as well as jewelry, woodworking, floral, and wedding supplies. The real "big show" however is their selection of holiday decor, I anxiously await the unveiling each season. They also host crafting classes for adults (check their website) and for children all summer long FOR FREE!! You just have to sign up! I am impressed with how they turned this store around, and it's now a place I enjoy. Keep up...

I enjoy going to Michaels just like I enjoy the time I spend painting. Michaels might be a big chain when it comes to hobby stores. The Walmart of the hobby world I guess. And like Walmart they have these amazing deals and a rewards program that is clearance central. Also the employees have always been helpful and nice to deal with. The store on the other is clearance chose. Deals every where and not in the spot the item actually is. Almost overwhelming to the shop. Also their products that seem to be the life blood of the store seems cheap. Don't get me wrong the have the process items but not in the quantities and discounted price of what a major hobby shop should have. And I feel like in the kids science section which is awesome for my son the seem to lack the higher quality experiments that aren't disposable....

I had a good experience with the cashiers and some stuff but there was one staff member named Jenny who was cause a lot of problems. Multiple people I’ve talked to have said she follows them around and accused them of stealing. She would not stop pushing products and membership cards on me when I was checking out to the point where I couldn’t talk at all and I almost just walked out. This place would be a good store if she wasn’t there. This isn’t a once or twice situation it’s happened at least seven times within this last month people have been accused at the door or stalked. It is very very obvious she is following people around. I’m gonna say something next time she does this. Seriously she should NOT...
