I spent more time at home preparing my laptop for service than the Geek Squad spent time on it. The objects on monitor disappear and the color crumbles. But this happens occasionally regardless of the internet usage or software. I purchased this laptop from Best Buy in 2024 and have been their total member since 2016. I wanted the Geek Squad technician to diagnose the problem. He spent maybe 5-10 min and said nothing was wrong, take the photo of your screen and bring it back. This was one of the seral poor services I have received from Geek Squad and Best Buy. On another occasion, I was connected to Geek Squad first a preliminary service tech asked questions, then asked my permission to gain remote access to my laptop. After I saw his connection which he can go to any file even to internet, he asked me to wait for 45 min to get the technician on remote access to solve the problem. I do not know where the technician is located, nor who else could be on remote access in the following 45 min and explore my files and personal data. I learned the name of the technician whom we were waiting for and searched for him/her. I found that a postdoctoral fellow in Biomedical field would do the repair in my laptop. Simply I hang it up. People working in this location, as well as the Geek Squad online service, are very weak in technical issues and in general computers. While technology and education have been growing tremendously over the years, you expect the technician’s knowledge and quality will do in parallel. Read moreMade an appointment for 11:40. Showed up on time with 1 person being serviced and 1 standing in front of me. In the past they made it a point to ask if someone had an appointment and you would he serviced at your appointment time, anyone ahead would have to wait. They never bothered to ask if I had an appointment. They helped the guy in front on me while servicing the 1st guy. They called in a second person to assist. 2 people helped 1 guy return a camera. I stood there for 20 minutes while 2 guys helped with a return only to have 1 walk away and ignore me. Finally the guy asked if I needed assistance and I told him I had an appointment at 11:40. He pulled it up and I told him what I needed done to my headphones. He then told me they don't service my headphones and they would have to send it off. 20 minutes I waited for them to tell me they can't help me. If they honored my appointment I could have been out of there in 30 seconds instead of wasting my time. It's a simple repair, but they don't do it. Now I get to go buy a tool and do it myself. I took ALL my equipment to my appointment to perform the services I needed, but was told by the person checking people in, that they would not perform my services at their location, and would only service me with an in-home visit, at the additional cost of an in-home visit. This is absolute bullshit, when I brought all my equipment to the Conroe Geek Squad location, I am NOT going to pay for a costly home visit when I can bring ALL my equipment to the store. After this experience, I will avoid using Geek Squad and Best Buy and will seek out other sources for my future computer needs. I made a huge mistake in buying from Best Buy and paying for a Geek Squad membership. I was told that my Geek Squad membership would not cover a home visit.
