Wonderful holiday skate event at the rink. Fun for friends and families. One break for the Zamboni or machine that smooths the ice for skating.
Minus one star because the rink was not prepped before the skate at 1pm. The rink was damaged to the level of previous use to the level of feeling as though skating over 36 grit sand paper and peat gravel in many spots. Making it difficult for enjoyment until the first break when the Zamboni helped improve the surface.
Having two options, rink in CR and at the mall for comparison prefer the Linn Cty rink for better surface over the holiday skate. Based on the condition of the rink. Though, for family fun is a win at the holidays despite the inconvenience and unsteady skate moments for many.
The Coralville rink is fun, in my view, during the off season. Bring socks. Have a summer skate to cool off. And, the surface is typically preferable with less skaters. For regular season five stars.
*Special note, to the counter staff who gave me a token to get back into my locker after company showed and needed to store their stuff, at no additional charge, when I tried to pay, thank you.
All staff were friendly and helpful whether picking proper shoes to swapping sizes for fit...
Read moreThe whole experience is great and the ice is nice. You have lots of fun. HOWEVER.... THE STAFF IS TERRIOKAY. They were on a laptop watching YouTube videos while we where skiing and when they were actually going to begin putting stakes back which were piled ontop on the counter, they were jumping onto of each other. The girl piggy-backed onto the man. To get admissions we had to wait five minutes because the guy didn't want to help customers. The skate rental lady was EATING HER DINNER while at the desk with a hat on. They look so disdainful and sad. They only care about money. My son had a size 5 and it was a bit big so he asked for 4 1/2 guess and they didn't have it so they gave him a 3. Well that was too small so he returned them and he got a size four and the employee ROLLED HER EYES. The ZAMBONI ONLY CAME OUT ZERO TIMES. NOT EVEN IN THREE HOURS! It's a nice place to be honest but the EMPLOYEES NEED MORE TRAINING WHEN THEIR BOSS ISN"T AROUND.
:) Love the Ice Skating...
Read moreThe Ice Rink was conveniently located inside a fun mall with food, drinks and a spacious atmosphere. The place could use some cleaning, lots of stains and fingerprints along the glass surrounding the rink. Price for skates were average, however, the aids should be free and shareable. I saw kids playing with the seal aid dangerously, and nobody stopped them on the the ice. Some people were not dressed for skating, shorts and tanks, kind of confusing. Would be helpful to provide helmets or safety gear. No real supervision except parents who should be watching.
Overall, my kids had a great time skating but I noticed a lot of things that could be...
