Shoe Dept. Encore — Local services in Coralville

They had a nice selection of shoes but TERRIBLE customer service. My daughter found a pair of dress shoes for homecoming. All that was left was the display in her size. She loved them but noticed on the side of the shoe there was a large black mark and the shoes were a fabric so u couldn't rub it off. It was scratched deep into the fabric. I asked if they had any others in back and a guy at the register said no right away without looking..another nice way to say it would be sorry all we have is what's on the floor. Then I asked if they could give me a discount on thr damaged shoes. He called a Manager and she was pretty rude almost accusing me of damaging the shoes. And told me they couldn't do a discount since they don't know who damaged them. I found them online and told them I will order them online so I get what I pay for...will not pay full price for damaged shoe. I was offended that she would think I would damage a shoe for a discount...40 something mom of 2 and strong believer in karma and I dont do anything not truthful cause it will come back tenfold. So thanks for questioning my charachter in front of my teen daughters. First and last experience in this store. If famous footwear doesnt have my size they offer to order them and ship them to my house for free. Nope Shoe Dept Encore couldn't do that...

I’ve been at this store countless times as I work in the mall that this particular Shoe Dept. is located. My most recent visit was extremely disappointing, and for one reason. One of the managers that works there was extremely, extremely rude to me as I brought a pair of sandals to the register that had tags attached, but didn’t have a barcode. I had found them on a shelf, and was unaware that the sku was not attached or stickered on the tag of the shoes. She didn’t say a thing to me as I walked up to the registers and smiled, she just looked at me and pointed to where she was going to check me out at. Proceeded to look around for a sku number and said “next time do NOT take them out of the box, if you don’t want the box you have to dispose it on your own outside of the store after you buy them.” I just nodded my head and was in shock at how she was projecting her frustration. I visited your store at the coralville mall this past weekend and I did not have good service. I fell in love with a nice pair of tall boots. However when I asked the salesman to help find it's match he seemed anoyed with me for asking. as I was looking for the match I found 3 other boxes with only one boot. When I asked him to run back and look in the back he came back empty handed, he started looking through boxes that were not even the same brand and started throwing the boxes he found that had a boot missing. When I settled on a different pair I asked the cashier about a possible discount she said no which was fine. I asked her how 3 different boxes of boots had one boot missing she said that's just how our shoplifters work, and that she could only give me a discount on the boots that where missing, both associates treated me like I was the problem, I will not be back, I don't appreciate being...
