My sister and I were there at Century casino yesterday September 24th we were there for approximately 2 hours with my sister's dog who is her service dog for the past 7 years, he is a small Bichon/ poodle mix who weighs approximately 7 lb he still does his job and letting my sister know of her panic attacks, like I said we were there for 2 hours. A few staff members even noticed him sitting in a pet stroller and no staff said nothing about him having to be on the floor asked no questions about him but the manager who informed my sister that he has to be on the floor to do his job. When it comes to seizures or panic attacks dogs need to be near there person. My sister told the manager that other staff came by and said nothing. The manager just replied "oh yeah". We are talking about a tiny little 7 lb dog her service dog. As I was holding my sister's service dog. Which at that time we were going to leave. The manager sarcastically telling me he needs to be on the floor on all fours. That I can't hold him? Since when does staff at a casino tell someone who has medical issues how to conduct their service dog? Your manager was out of line. My dad before he passed this past February was a frequent, frequent century casino player. My sister and I took my father up to cripple Creek a lot at least once twice a month. I don't believe that a small dog has to be on the floor to do his job. Just because a dog is a service dog doesn't mean that he's not also a pet. For 2 hours we were there and no one said anything. In the past I've seen people carrying their dogs I've seen a woman 4 months ago when we were there holding on to a small Pomeranian and we were there for at least four or five hours. This woman apparently wasn't told anything cuz she was there even when we left hours later. I have not called the other casinos in cripple Creek to find out what their thoughts are on people bringing in their service dogs. This manager I didn't get her name she has dark black hair with bright reddish cherry streaks on her hair also told my sister just to let you know that the other casinos have the same policy that the dog needs to be on the floor on all fours. I may may not be back to this casino. It would probably be best to post some sort of policy of people bringing in their service dogs whether it's a support dog or emotional. My sister's dog was not getting out of hand. No other staff said anything to me and my sister about the dog sitting in the pet stroller. Why did the manager? You get thousands of people passing through cripple Creek, to all those casinos, so if I never show up again, it won't affect you. But if I do end up going back I hope I don't see that manager. You get homeless and transient people in those casinos who watch over the folks that are gambling some probably have been targeted. And you let them stay in there. But a little dog has to be on all fours has to be on the ground. My sister and I couldn't relax after the manager told us what we need to do, we didn't even go to any other casino we...
Read moreDuring our 26th Anniversary trip, we decided to visit the Century Casino in Cripple Creek, as the one in Central City is one of our favorites to visit, play, and dine. This was the first visit for us to this Century Casino; we were informed that the Cripple Creek Century is the "original" casino with this name. We played for a while, the casino was not very busy, which was nice. The payback percentage was not terrible, kept you paying which is fun and keeps you engaged. The setup is strange as the "ground level" floor, the "2nd floor", and the "3rd floor", have different gaming licenses, so if you cash out with a ticket on level 1, level 3 will not accept the ticket in the machine, so you have to cash out your tickets on the level you won them on. We had the Mid-City Grill, we were given a 50% off voucher for each for siging up for the players club. The grill was busy as for the short wait line, and several tables available, we had to wait for a while to be seated. We had an older couple, with 2 guests, just push their way past us and went and sat down at a table. So, after we were sat down, it took a few more minutes to see a waitress and get our drinks. After we decided to order it was a wait due to the number of people being waited on. Of course, there was only two waitresses, that were waiting tables, and the "hostess" would bring up food that was ordered to go. So when there were no customers waiting to be seated or picking up food, she did appear to help, but when our food was finally delivered and were eating, I had to wait quiet a while to have my iced tea refilled. The food was good! My wife had a turkey burger which you cannot find at many places, and I ordered the Asian Salad, also not available at many places. I had many other guests asking me what I was eating as it looked good, and it was; one of the best of these types salads I have had! The turkey burger was also delicious according to my wife. Overall, the casino was a decent place to visit and play. We have not had the opportunity to stay in the hotel offered by either location; so I have no comment to offer. We are sure to visit the Central City location as it is closer to our home, but only have been to the Cripple Creek area a couple of times. Not entirely sure if these casinos are owned by the same company or interest, but either way I would recommend the Century Casino in Cripple Creek (and...
Read moreFirst of all, our room was beautiful (see photo). The bed was a little soft and a tad lumpy but I found it pretty comfortable. The pillows were just passable. Big issue with the bed: The bed was a platform bed. The wooden platform extended about four or five inches beyond the mattress. My husband and I whacked our shins on the corners quite a few times. There was some padding on the corners but it still hurt!
The bathroom tub/shower was fabulous! Great water pressure! They have the usual shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I only used the body wash and it was pretty good.
RECOMMENDATION: Add a grab bar somewhere on the outside of the shower for people with balance problems.
The hotel is like a maze. We had a lot of trouble finding our room. We were in room 202 and there was quite a bit of noise from the casino below. I could hear music from slot machines. Luckily the HVAC system was like white noise so we didn't have much trouble sleeping.
FYI: Do not stay at this hotel if you have issues with stairs. There are stairs everywhere. Even if you use the elevator. It was very difficult to bring our luggage up to the room. All rooms are on the second floor. I understand that this is an historic building, which is really cool. But it feels a little dark and dirty inside.
The staff was really great and very helpful. We got a complimentary breakfast each day we were there. The breakfast was good except for the pancakes which to me were almost inedible. They were sweet and so tough that I had trouble cutting them with my fork. My eggs were cooked perfectly. We also had English muffins which were good. We didn't try anything else except the coffee which is your typical diner coffee...not something I can drink but my husband didn't mind it. Breakfast didn't start until 8:00 and my husband is an early riser, so there really was no place for him to sit and have coffee.
I was very disappointed with the town of Cripple Creek. The scenery is gorgeous, however the casinos leave much to be desired. Very few table games and the blackjack had a $10 minimum. I was hoping it would be $5. Also there was no Texas hold 'em anywhere in town when we were there (Monday and Tuesday). I think they do have some games somewhere on weekends but that's it.
I don't think we will be returning to Cripple Creek or...
