Review update June 2025: While the food here is usually pretty good, that means nothing when the wait staff is so ill trained that they are pushing the trash down with their hands in plain view of customers and not washing them after. It's a gross impression to think food is being served/ handle after. Playing with your pigtails, putting on chapstick. Standing/ leaning on the food line waiting for food and picking at your hands fingers, also unacceptable - All things that should not be done in front of customers or at all in a restaurant environment especially when serving the food. My complaints with the Home Cafe consistently remain in regard to the lack of training and professional at this establishment. There are only a handful of waitstaff I'd trust here. But if this restaurant cannot implement professionalism front of house, it leaves wonder as to how back of house is operating as well. I spoke to the restaurant manager on duty, the casino floor manager was and referred to speak to another and will reach out and some point.
But really guys this is going from bad to worse quick.
Review update, 7 months after initial review: Eaten here quite a few times since my initial review and the food quality is not consistent. Our waitress Kim was outstanding, she took great care of us and attentive to needs. The food was good overall on this visit. But again, has not been consistent over these past few months.
We had a 35 min wait this time. As we waited we could see into the kitchen where you could observe a very frustrated cook, that didn't leave a good impression as we wait to be sat. But my biggest pet peeve? The manager you thought it was sanitary to keep the "checkbook/ order pad" tucked into the back of his pants. I would have brought it to his attention but quite frankly he's the manager he should know that is not sanitary. I don't care if your underwater have been washed, he's handling that order pad and then handling/ delivering food to tables without washing his hands in between. It is all about perspective. I perceive this as unsanitary. He needs to wear a half apron like the rest of the staff and set a proper sanitary example. Regardless of how great Kim is, the unfortunate placing of the order pad by the manager gets a couple stars removed.
Initial Review (5 stars) Biscuits and gravy fan? Then you will love the biscuits and gravy here. They are the best I've had in a while. The biscuits are so soft they practically melt in your mouth. The gravy with the sausage is very well flavored.
The staff is awesome and accommodating.
We asked to make the eggs on our biscuits and gravy plate into an omelette as the entree was being split between 2 people. They were happy to accommodate.
The omelette was outstanding as well. Fluffy eggs filled with mushrooms, cheese and topped with tomato.
We also got a side of the delicious (with a bit of a kick) green chili to put on the...
Read moreUnusually awful! My husband ordered a burger with all add-ons except bacon, she forgot to put in any of the toppings, so he got just a plain burger. Plus my salmon was raw in the middle. When I flagged her down to get ithe fish heated up, she tries to tell me it was supposed to be that way. I'm sorry, but no. Salmon is not supposed to be cool, grey, and mushy in the middle. She argued with me for almost a minute before she finally just took it to be reheated and reheated the whole plate. Sadly the rice and 3 sad pieces of asparagus were dry and overdone to start with, so they came out inedible after. She did ask if my husband wanted his remade, but it took almost an hour to get the first time and we did not want to wait again.
I'm sorry, but I have managed restaurants, and the food issues are concern enough. But an employee who forgets half of an order, then tries to avoid fixing another order by arguing that a clearly undercooked seafood item is supposed to be that way, then doesn't even apologize once or try to fix the situation is even more so. It quite frankly felt as though she was too busy to be bothered with my salmon (which admittedly there were only 3 servers in the restaurant). I'm honestly wondering if the long wait was because she forgot to even ring us in, and then my food was rushed through when she did finally remember. Regardless, your GM needs to look at some serious retraining of both the servers and the cooks on safe meat temperatures and how to...
Read moreI rated 2 Stars based off of the food. Our waitress is another reason I’m rating an additional star. The cashier is very rude. Clearly bottom of the barrel employees. It appears they are short staffed so they allow anybody to keep a job for fear of being short employees. The vibe of the employees is definitely one of under appreciated staff and unhappy staff. At one point one of the males working told the cashier that he needed a pause and he needed a minute and the cashier was so unorganized. He was telling everybody it was a 1 hour wait to be seated while tables were empty. When we went to pay he never said a word and just put his hand out to take my bill. I honestly don’t think I had a worse experience anywhere else ever. The wait for food was pretty quick which was nice. The food was hot and onion rings were decent. Our waitress was on top of things for us but just seemed like they all had a lack of teamwork. If I were the Chaminox (spelling) I’d be completely embarrassed advertising this restaurant as a food option as a place they promote. They need a new management team to get in there, clean house and build more business with better customer service. I bet they would have more productivity better, better average ticket increases and a smoother...
