If you're interested in old mining history, this is the place to be. As others have said, the host there makes you feel very welcome. Well behaved dogs are allowed in. We spent quite a bit of time touring the main building and enjoyed all the artifacts there. They were holding a treasure hunt that my wife enjoyed searching the museum for the facts.

Behind the museum is a great place to get photos of the little steam train leaving. Check their schedule to see when it's going to go.

The assay office was neat and had some interesting facts. There were a couple cabins that have been relocated here. Hard to imagine they lived in those so small.

Young kids enjoy the gold panning right outside the front of the museum.

This is a great history lesson and a fun place to be. And great...

The Cripple Creek Historical Museum is an absolute must-visit for anyone with an interest in history. It is a place where the past comes alive, and the stories of a bygone era resonate with visitors. We really enjoyed the scavenger question/answer hunt. As a former Mountain Bell employee, I loved see the old switchboard and the old telephones. We even saw a ghost on the third floor! The gem panning was too much fun, even though it was cold, it was worth it to find those colorful gems in the brown rocks. And we left with a bag of colorful gems we collected.

Thank you, Bill, for your knowledge, friendliness, and unwavering commitment to making my visit an exceptional one. You are an asset to the Cripple Creek Historical Museum, and your passion for history is...

This is a fabulous museum, consisting of the Midland Terminal Railway Depot, the Colorado Trading and Transfer, the Assay Office, as well as (2) Miner's Cabins. You can really take as long as you want to your all the buildings and the grounds, which are all grouped together within about a one square block area. Wife and I just loved the place. It was a bit on the quiet side, so we felt like we weren't rushed, and employees explained things as we went along. For instance, I didn't know prior who Ralph Carr was, and how important he was to the area (Cripple Creek) and it's developement.

Yep, there are restrooms on site, and the were even clean! I know you get tired or hearing me speak of restrooms in my reviews, but travelers find this an...

My group was invited to perform for the Top Of The World Rodeo as an opening act for Exit West and a street dance. First time being a part of a big event in Cripple Creek. The District Museum, local businesses, Elks Lodge, and the Rodeo were awesome. Lots to do from casinos, narrow guage railway, donkey burrow farm, shops, antiques and souvenirs, and some great performers. Had a great time on and off stage. Hope to be a part of Cripple Creek Rodeo and other events in the coming years.
