HORRIBLE! Clients be aware that as you will see in my post and on another woman's review on Avalon's Yelp page that there are certain stylists who call in sick the day of your appointment and you will get a phone call minutes prior to your scheduled time...that...oh by the way we have to cancel your appointment. And I am thinking...you're joking right...I mean I am literally in my car driving to my appointment and 20 minutes prior to my apt time my stylist is "sick"....and I am supposed to believe that....please
This is exactly what happened to me with the text messages and VM's to prove it. I specifically wanted a Sunday appointment bc that is what works best for my schedule. I call to make an appointment and am told that stylist Mallory's next sunday morning apt is not for another 3 weeks and is at 10am...fine i'll take it bc I am not in a rush. Great I am satisfied....bbuutttt wait keep reading......
I get a text message reminder of my apt the Friday prior....fine I respond and confirm with a "C" reply. Sunday(the day of the apt) I get yet again another text message this one "reminding" me of my apt at 10am...the text came to my phone at 9:02am(58 min prior to my apt). So I leave after a bit and get in my car...the salon is abt 20 min from where I reside. As I am driving to my apt...which mind you I just had gotten a text reminder apt about then I receive a phone call from a woman named Grace at 9:37am who says...."This is the Avalon salon regarding your apt at 10am...the stylist is sick and we need to reschedule" ....uuummm are you kidding me...I am sorry but if you are sick most people know the day or evening prior not 20 min before you are to show up for work. This is completely unacceptable and they should have a plan B to accommodate me. And rescheduling to another Sunday apt that will be 3 weeks out is not acceptable. I have asked for the owner and person in charge to look into this. I will repost what they concluded to do about this and if at all they try to accommodate me to my satisfaction....if they do then I'll consider removing this post and if they don't then the post stays up for the life of the business being open. FOR A SALON IN WEST VILLAGE WHERE THE RENT IS HIGH AND YOU ARE WORKING WITH HIGHER END CLIENTS THIS PLACE I PREDICT IF THIS ISN'T RECTIFIED CORRECTLY WILL BE OUT OF BUSINESS OR WILL HAVE TO RELOCATE WITHIN 5 YEARS.
I have asked for the owner to look into this and to call me----I will let you know what ends up happening or if they even try to rectify...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe only reason I am writing this review now is because I got an email today asking to vote for this salon as a top salon in Dallas and logged on to google, curious to read their reviews, since my last experience there was pretty terrible. Surprisingly, management seems pretty responsive to google reviews, yet I sat at their salon for 20 minutes waiting for the manager to address my problem and she was too busy to see me and never came out of her office. I figured maybe I would get her attention here.
I went to this salon several times over the last year, for haircuts mostly, during which the customer service and attention were superb. So naturally, when I needed to get my chemical straightening treatment done, I made an appointment here too. I have been getting different versions of the "Brazilian Blowout" treatment for over 10 years, so I am extremely familiar with the treatment and what my hair looks like after getting it. During my treatment I was surprised I was not smelling the usual product smell, but let it slide. After my treatments, I usually wash my hair once a week, twice a week at most. I noticed that after the first wash, my hair was not as manageable as it usually is this early after treatment. By the second and third wash (ie 2-3 weeks after treatment) my hair was completely frizzy, curly and unmanageable. So after spending an inordinate amount of money I figured I would return to the salon for an assessment and thought they would maybe try to help, again given how expensive this treatment is. Everyone was incredibly nice again and tried to work with me, except for management, who told her staff to tell me "there was nothing they could do for me". Mind you I had already waited for 20 minutes for her and she never came to talk to me directly because she was "on a phone call". So having paid $400 (total with tip), and with destroyed hair, I walked out of the salon and immediately crossed the street to their competing salon, who took me in, agreed with me that my hair had not been treated appropriately, and gave me a massive discount to redo the treatment that same day given how much money I had already spent. That is true customer service, and a salon I will keep...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy first experience at Avalon Salon West Village today was totally Five Stars. I was nervous about trying a new stylist after years at a different Aveda salon -- but I couldn't have made a better choice! The front-of-house staff here is super-friendly and refreshingly unpretentious. The environment of the salon itself is hip, warm, and inviting, but also relaxing. If you, like me, don't enjoy a super noisy salon that seems more like a chaotic nightclub than a rejuvenating oasis, the spa environment of this one will appeal to you. My stylist, Annabelle, did an ace job with my color and blow-dry. I have tricky hair, and she was patient in getting to know my needs, she asked a lot of questions and took her time, and the work she did was absolute perfection. I can't recommend her highly enough: she is personable, professional, and extremely talented. I left looking and feeling like a million bucks. Best salon experience I have had in Dallas in many years. Heartfelt thanks, Avalon and Annabelle: I needed a new hair home, and I am so glad I have found one! To all potential customers out there: If you are considering an Aveda salon for the first time, let me add that Aveda products are wonderful, and the color is nothing less than amazing: it always leaves hair feeling healthier (and shinier!) than any other color on the market. But if the staff or atmosphere at a salon are lacking, the experience is too stressful and customers will go elsewhere. I did. If you want the best products and the best salon experience, THIS is the...
