I really hate to write this review because Dr. Nguyen is THE most bubbly and nice eye doctor I've been to, but I have to share about my experience regarding John. I will preface this by saying that I have bad eye sight and bad astigmatism. This was my third time going for a check up and everything went well until my glasses arrived. I decided to kind of splurge on a new pair of glasses hoping I can wear them everyday without looking like I have goggles on (yes, that's how bad my eyesight is). John was the one to help me pick out glasses. He told me that rounded frames help thin out the lens since there are no corners. So I got rounded frames. I paid extra for the thinnest frames. (for reference: The previous glasses I had were of similar prescription and rectangular frames but the second thinnest level they had. ) When I went to pick up my glasses, I was pretty disappointed because when I tried them on they felt just as thick or thicker than my older frames. I expressed to Jill (love her too) that I'm a bit disappointed because it feels thicker and I was expecting them to be thinner since I had paid extra for the thinnest level and got rounded frames when I preferred rectangular (not their fault, I know). Jill told me that John was off that day and to stop by tomorrow when he's working to talk about it. When I went home, I used a body fat caliper to measure the lens thickness and the new ones were 1mm thicker. I know that 1mm is not THAT much, but considering that I paid extra and was told rounded frames help thin out the lens, I was pretty bummed. I stopped by the next day and we got to talking. I told him that I was frustrated about the new glasses and that they are not as thin as I had hoped. Eventually he became very defensive and condescending. He blatantly lied to my face saying that he told me larger frames (new) usually result in thicker lens. He NEVER said this to me when I was picking out frames. When I told him he never mentioned that he said to me "I've been doing this for 12 years..." and something along the lines that he mentioned it. The only solution he offered was to offer a partial refund (not even a refund really) and to have my lens be 6mm thicker. I told him I did not want to do that. He offered NO other solutions nor did he ever apologize for misleading me. I admit I became VERY frustrated at him and he was able to tell, yet he continued to be condescending and refused to try and offer a real solution. I understand that in the end I was the one to order the frames and such, but the way that John handled the situation, which I believe is also partially his fault, is enough to keep me...
Read moreI went in to eyepieces because I was told by my insurance that they were an in network provider. They confirmed that they were in-network with my insurance and I made an appointment for a week later. They called me several times before my appointment to verify my insurance benefits and had a lot of trouble doing so. I Was able to get involved, called my insurance and helped them verify before my visit. I’m not sure why they had so much trouble. Sometimes someone would call me from the office as if I hadn’t already provided all the information and I kept having to give it to them again. Then to make a very long story short at the end of my eye exam visit I was told that my glasses were out of network. I trusted that they were telling me the right thing but it struck me as odd. I paid $1200 for my husband and my glasses. After receiving my glasses and calling my insurance I come to find out that they are in fact in-network and just don’t bill to insurance and so I had to go through the claims process on my own to get reimbursed the $1200 that they had me pay out-of-pocket. I am thankful for my insurance background that I am savvy enough to know how to do this process but I am fearful that others will end up being told wrong information and not know better and pay hundreds of dollars they shouldn’t. I enjoyed the doctor however I think the way that they handled the front desk is reason enough to never go back. I feel like because they handle high-end clientele that they don’t feel the need to help them save money that is rightfully theirs. I had to have United healthcare call them on 3-way to get them to even admit they are listed as full in-network providers and everything straightened out correctly myself in the claims process. I am so unhappy about they way they treated me. And I also took a great deal of time and effort to handle...
Read moreAs a healthcare provider, Inaccurate information should never be given if the provider is not 100% sure of the facts. I had my first visit to Eye Pieces (Dallas) with Dr. Alexander and she advised me I would have to change to a different contact lenses because Acuvue 2 contact lenses were no longer manufactured. I reached out to Acuvue (Johnson & Johnson) and discovered that Acuvue 2 lenses were still produced and were marketed on their website, and they added that they had no plans of being discontinued.
I had to have a follow-up visit the next week for more advanced testing at the Plano location due to some eye health concerns and I discussed my concerns of the inaccurate information with Dr. Gonzalez (he is the owner of Eye Pieces). He apologized and I felt that he sincerely listened and cared. He also provided that Acuvue had discussed terminating production of the Acuvue 2 lenses in the past, however, did not follow through.
Finally, I have seen many optometrist in my 25+ years of needing vision correction. I would never recommend Dr. Alexander as I felt she was rushed through my appointment and it seemed as if she did not enjoy her job. My first appointment with her was my last.
My recommendation is to see Dr. Gonzalez or try another provider in your area.
This rating of 3/5 is due to receiving inaccurate/false information from a professional provider that has the responsibility to KNOW the current information on contacts and vision related topics. A rating of 1/5 would have been given due to the presentation of Dr. Alexander in the office visit, however, the follow-up visit with Dr. Gonzalez in Plano met my expectations of what I demand in delivery and presentation of my optometrists. Additionally, his responsiveness to my concern for the inaccurate information given in my initial appointment met my...
