Elevate Health Plans has been the worst health plan I have ever experienced. Getting insurance was a challenge when my family moved to Colorado after the enrollment period ended. From the beginning, there were issues with customer service. Supervisors were never available, and communication could always have been better. I paid my enrollment fee over the phone because my Member ID would not be processed for another 7 to 10 days, which prevented me from making a payment online. Even though the payment came out of my bank account, it didn't show in their system, leading to harassment for a missed payment. I had to provide a bank statement to prove the payment and requested removal from the harassment list. I still received phone calls and letters every week. The following month, Elevate Health double-charged me and refused to reimburse. After several frustrating calls, 28 days later, I reported the payment as fraud and got reimbursed from my bank. When the time came to use the insurance, I discovered that you can't search for a doctor online or make an appointment. All appointments are scheduled over the phone at their call center on a first-come, first-served basis. As luck would have it, there were no available appointments for the next two months, with the first available being a one-hour drive away. Unable to use the insurance, I canceled the plan and opted for a more expensive Naturopath Doctor. I hope my experience will help others avoid the frustration of choosing Elevate Health Plans. I plan to sign up with Kaiser during open enrollment...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE AFTER TRYING TO CANCEL: I have had the most horrible experience with Denver Health. Not only did I receive very poor medical care, but I also was overcharged for a physical exam, which I disputed, and never received a follow up. I finally was able to sign up for a better health coverage and went online to MyChart, which Denver Health advertises as being their online member portal. Through MyChart I was able to select my coverage and choose to cancel it. After doing so, It showed that it was "PENDING REMOVAL". I never received a follow up, but when I logged on to MyChart, I could not access my coverage and it stated that I was not currently enrolled in any plans. Therefore, I assumed that I would not be charged, but that was incorrect. I was still charged $246 for my December premium, even though I canceled on November 12th. I attempted to call several times, even asked to receive a call back, which I never got. After being transferred to 6 different representatives, I was finally told that I can't cancel my coverage through MyChart or through Denver health AT ALL, yet NO ONE contacted me about this, they just proceeded to charge my account. Horrible experience, and they refuse to give me my money back. DO NOT USE DENVER HEALTH INSURANCE! I will be sticking with Kaiser. The worst insurance I've ever had. Their online client portal is terrible. Out of pocket costs for just a Covid Booster is outrageous. Will be shopping for new insurance. DO...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am sick of trying to work with DHMP. I'm paying about $450/month for the Gold tier plan, and I'm still spending thousands more a year on "coinsurance" and other costs. Last year, I had two pinched nerves in my elbows. After a year of seeing specialists and spending a few grand, the surgeon said "come back when you can't feel your arms for at least a week. Otherwise, learn to deal with it."
DHMP charged me over $1,100 for an elbow procedure that they said would cost me $50. I disputed it, and they refused to communicate to resolve the problem. Instead, they sent it to collections.
I've been in an out of physical therapy for 4 years for mysterious knee/hip/back problems, and I seem to be stumping four separate physical therapists at Denver Health. They eventually gave up, handed me a brochure on pain management, and discharged me. Instead, they recommended a pain management therapy group, which has an infinite wait list that I've been on for over a year.
I went back to my PCP to get imaging done, and the X-rays cost over $400. Today, I just had to cancel an MRI that cost about $1,750 (originally over $4,000 before insurance).
I feel like this company jerks me around to different, expensive specialists to bilk money out of me, and I'm sick of it. DHMP and Denver Health are not helping me. They're stringing me along, and I'm miserable. I can't seem to get healthy, and I'm paying thousands of dollars to line the pockets of...
