** Second edit. I went back and the owner (Michael) took care of my next haircut. If he had been the first person I saw there's no doubt I would have started with a 5 star rating. Michael was friendly, professional, and most importantly gave me a great haircut. They are just getting started in this location, so besides being a fan of supporting small business in general, they've won themselves a repeat customer. Look forward to returning in the future.
** Edited. Owner contacted me almost immediately and addressed my issues. Appreciate the prompt response and actions so updating my rating and will give them another try.
Wife and I both had bad haircut days. I made an online appointment here while my wife was getting a cut at a nearby salon. Parking can be a bit tight here during busy times but was able to find a spot easily during the weekend.
I had selected anyone available for my haircut as I'd never been here before. I was assigned a brand new trainee while his trainer was giving a cut to a person next to me so was available for consults often. I wish I'd got everyone's names but wasn't paying that much attention as this wasn't going to be a regular stop for me.
I'm going to assume my barber had some type of basic training and licensing but it really didn't show. While he knew the basics of clippers and scissors, he had to constantly get checked on and the more experienced barber had to make many adjustments. My trainee didn't know how to handle the razer well and ended up giving me razer burn on my neck from cutting to hard - it didn't really show up till I got home so wasn't able to give him feedback at the time.
The shampoo wasn't done well and he didn't really wash behind my head (i.e. just had me lie there and wash the more accessible top/sides of my hair) and was having some problems keeping the temperature of the water consistent (too hot or too cold).
It wasn't until I got home and cleaned up more that I was able to notice more of the details and the lines weren't that clean. I'm really not that picky about haircuts as I figure good or bad, they're gone in in 3 weeks or so. But for the amount this place charges I expected...
Read moreMy experience at men's escape was like no other. When I first walked in I was greeted by Mike who was one of the most knowledgeable and respectful barbers I have ever met. He told me to take a seat and that it will only take a second. The waiting area was not the Usual wooden chairs at the barbershops I used to go to but extremely comfy couches that I wouldn’t mind being in for hours. When it was my time I told the barber that I wanted a regular skin fade but he advised me I might look better with an undercut to try it out and see if I like it and I was shocked. Watching him work was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. You can tell how passionate he is about his craft by the amount of focus and Precision he has. It was as if he entered a state of flow while giving me a haircut. When he was done I was eager to share my new look as soon as possible. I've never had such an amazing haircut before. He was right, the style looked much better on me then what...
Read moreAs a person who has spent his entire adult life in search of a consistent haircut, Michael and the team at mens escape gm have not only ended the hunt but exceeded everything I thought was possible from a barber shop. Because it’s SO much more than that. Not only have I never waited more than a few minutes in over two years of coming here I have had the best experience with all the cool amenities offered there! Micheal is detail oriented, quick and punctual always. The best part? He’s seriously the nicest guy in the world. You might be wondering if I’m his brother at this point or at least a close friend. While I do hope we are friends, I’m just a regular customer with no incentive for this review and that’s the truth. Go give them a shot and I’m sure...
