Edit: Changed my review to 5 stars. The business refunded me for the bad experience immediately, which I appreciate having been a long-time customer. I will plan to go back and just never book this massage therapist again. I hope the business will counsel this therapist on proper customer experiences. Every other therapist I've had at this business has been wonderful.
--Prior review-- My husband and I have been regular customers of Sabai Thai for years, and I've always had incredible experiences until yesterday. I received probably 60% of the service I paid for or less.
I rarely get any time to myself, so I booked a two hour massage plus foot scrub as a treat to relax from my hectic life as a working mom (who happens to be pregnant).
Per instructions, I arrived 30 minutes early for the foot scrub and never received it. When I asked, the receptionist said they'd do it in the room. My masseuse let me into the massage room 5 minutes late and then proceeded to tell me his life story for about 10 minutes(?) before I even lied on the table. I assumed the massage itself would be extended given the delays.... It wasn't.
The masseuse then proceeded to monologue about his entire life (repeating himself multiple times) for the FULL MASSAGE, while I barely said a single word. He talked about everything from the day his mother died to his kids to his past marriages to his past careers to his living situation and current plans for the evening, etc. He even paused in the middle of the massage to insist on showing me photos of various things he had monologued about....
He then asked if he could use CBD oil and he said "it's expensive but this will be on me", which to me meant for free. I said yes. After the massage, which ended exactly on time (leaving me with about 75% of the massage I actually paid for). When I asked about the foot scrub, which I badly wanted, he said "well since we used CBD oil, the cost will just cover that since you really needed that more...." I didn't even want CBD oil, and I certainly wanted the foot scrub that I paid for.
I couldn't wait to leave. I left so upset and frustrated, and I'm still upset. This was the LEAST relaxing massage/spa experience I've EVER had, and I almost cried because I really really needed this time to myself to decompress. I will probably...
Read moreI came to Sabai yesterday to help relieve pain in my neck and shoulders after a car accident. I told them about my accident both via text and in-person to my masseuse, but I wasn't treated with care and intention during my treatment. My massage was very painful and I felt unsafe having my body treated quite vigorously while in pain. When my masseuse started on my neck, I asked her to please be gentle because I had neck pain. She said okay and then stopped massaging my neck, which I didn't love because that's where I needed the most TLC. I also mentioned I had a bruise on my right shin, and she accidentally massaged my bruised right shin and skipped my left. (She must have gotten confused when I turned over, as the bruised shin was now on the opposite side of the table...which is an honest mistake but not one I feel a professional masseuse should make.) She also massaged my left foot, but not my right foot, which was odd. I woke up this morning feeling pretty terrible, but am hoping I recover in a few days.
I really wanted to love Sabai because my old massage place closed, and I'm always looking to support Asian-owned businesses—but unfortunately I can't return here. I think this place would be great if your body is feeling strong and healthy, but I would not recommend coming here if you're...
Read moreThis was one of the most frustrating and painful massage experiences I’ve ever had. I filled out the online intake form ahead of time, clearly explaining my pain points and what I neede, but the therapist ignored it and asked me the same questions again. Total waste of time.
I requested a deep tissue massage, but what I got was completely unskilled and chaotic. There was no technique, no flow. just random pressure applied in no logical order. She jumped from feet to calves to hamstrings to glutes and back again without staying on any area long enough to be effective. Randomly she started massaging my arms then went back to my legs. It felt like she had no idea what she was doing.
The worst part: I had a big knot in my upper back and she just jammed her elbow into it, which caused sharp pain. I literally flinched away. I left the session in worse condition than I came in—especially in my neck and shoulders. It was NOT therapeutic, and frankly, not even a real massage.
To top it off, she didn’t ask how the session went or offer any follow-up. Completely unprofessional. I will never return, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who actually wants relief or...
