My sister splurged on an item for me for my birthday. Unfortunately it was a little too big and so we went in to return or exchange. It still had the original tag, unworn, unwashed, and only 2-3 weeks after purchase … but we lost the receipt. And apparently if we had an account, this would have solved everything, but my sister was not told this at the time of purchase. The manager told us they could only refund 50% of store credit. This is no where on their website’s return policy and we have never had this problem before at White House Black Market or any other store where we couldn’t return an unused, recently purchased item for store credit. I completely understand certain policies that need to be in place to avoid things like theft, but this policy (which seems to be unique to this particular store) seems archaic and only serves encourage us to shop solely online. Otherwise what is even the point of a physical store? Read moreUsually I love White House Black Market, but the costumer service on Sunday (June 10th) afternoon was abysmal. There was no one suggesting clothes or telling me how thing fit when I was trying things on. The only real interaction in had was when I had to chase down someone to help me zip up the dress. She touched the zipper for a millisecond before snapping, “this is too hard to zip, you need a bigger size.” Just what every woman dreams to hear when she’s shopping! I ended up going back to the dressing room and zipping it up myself without any problem. I have obviously tried on clothes where I needed to go up a size, but this was not the case and any good store person knows how to suggest a bigger size with at least a minor attempt at being tactful. When I tried to return the dress (within the 60 day timeframe) the sales associate told me that she could not return this item because I did not purchase it under my store account and I did not have a receipt.
