Well thank you for the lead, WDIV/Channel 4.
I was watching the 6 pm news and they featured this long time, multi generation jeweler, I watched with interest and truly thought "How Cool" that a business would stick it out in the city through good and lean times.
I called ahead to discuss various brands and price points and a energetic young man named Michael was assisting me, he assured me that they could dazzle me with a $200 or beyond watch. I made mention that I only knew of them due to the WDIV story, he mentioned that he in fact was part of the family, and also liked the story.
I eventually made it down there in June, called ahead to see if Michael was in , but the enthusiastic and charming Rhonda told me, come on in we will take good care of you,she asked what colors, style and or brands I might be interested and price points.
I also remembered parking was now tight in that area and asked for advice, she mentioned validated parking at the Opera House Deck !
I arrived , parked and was warmly greeted by Miss Charisma, Rhonda and also met Gina, sweet professional souls, I mentioned that I had called ahead, she replied you must be Ron.
This gal had set up a display of 8-10 watches in the styles I was hoping to find in my very own jewelry showcase.
I explained that was quite the nice presentation and I proceeded to look, hold, try on and wear several of them, 2 were not my preferred style, but the rest were all in the running to go home with me.
I narrowed it down to a Caravelle by Bulova or a Black Kenneth Cole watch.
Both priced very fairly under $150, Rhonda who was well trained , suggested since your way under budget purchase both . . ... .
I picked the Caravelle , due to its simple design, dark face and band, and just a little hint of bling, plus the watch band itself had a very nice ease of use.
It was a pinch to large for my wrist by a link or 2, I asked about sizing and how many days, Rhonda said "Mr Ron we are a full service jeweler, we can do that right now !"
So as Gina was altering my band and sizing me, we talked watches and jewelers, although she looked like a young gal, she had 26+ years of jewelry sales and experience under her belt!
I was blown away, she slid the watch on me and it fit like it was made for me. I quickly developed a relationship with this watch, and enjoy it very much.
Final price , out the door $127
The customer service truly exceeded all of my expectations.
I will definitely will return for that Kenneth Cole and some other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I came in last year to inquire about getting my engagement ring sized, and having a couple of broken gold chains repaired. The older, small white woman with brown hair met us at the door with a scowl and a poor attitude. She immediately began insulting us by implying that the 2 carat ring my wife put on my finger was not mine, was not real etc. she literally asked to see the paperwork on my diamond, as if I carry it around with me. I have been in many jewelry stores, and have never been asked to prove a piece belonged to me. My wifeās broken chains (beautiful jewelry sheās purchased around the world) were spoken about as if they were not hers. Still, we left our chains there to be repaired ( we are used to experiencing racism and have to pick our battles). I sent my ring to the jeweler who made it for it to be sized instead of leaving it here. When my wife went to pick up the repaired chains, she was met by a different woman who was kind and friendly (donāt know her nameāmiddle aged Black woman). So we gave the benefit of the doubt and hoped that the first salesperson was not representative of the entire establishment.
Fast forward to this year. This past weekend I damaged my engagement ring and the top prong needed to be repaired. I wanted it done quickly and we decided to give Simmons and Clark another chance. Again, as soon as we walked in, the same rude woman was there and didnāt greet us. When I said what we needed, the first thing out of her mouth was āwe canāt do that. Well not in houseā. It was as if she didnāt want our business. She then proceeds to give me the run around as if the work canāt be done. Then she starts her same bit from before, acting as though we donāt know about the ringātelling us thereās a serial number, telling us thereās a hidden halo etc. things that had no bearing on a repair.
My wife designed and purchased my ring herself and this woman has repeatedly treated us like it is not my ring and we donāt know anything about it. Again, my desire for fast service made me leave the ring here instead of sending it off or finding another jeweler. Today I got my ring back and the other salesperson who was kind and welcoming helped me. Itās a shame that the other woman is so nasty and racist that I never even looked around the store the first time; there seem to be some nice pieces here, but she makes me not want to patronize this business again.
We buy jewelry as gifts for just about every holiday and birthday, and itās a shame we canāt support this...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePurchased a beautiful Bulova watch set from Simmons & Clark. When I brought it in to have it sized the salesperson made a mistake and damaged the watch. The sales person said that they would send the watch out and have it completed by a jeweler. Received a call 2 days later and the watch was still damaged. The sales person did the right thing and said they would order me a brand NEW watch, but they were going to use this watch to finish sizing me, so they took an additional two links off one side of the watch and said don't worry about it they are ordering me a brand new one anyways. I left the watch and received a call 3 days later telling me that the watch was in and I asked is the watch new and all of the links are new. The salesperson told me that everything was perfect. When we arrived at the store for the third time they handed me the watch and it was the old watch that they damaged the first time. WHAT A JOKE. I can not recommend anyone using this jewelry store, they are not a honest store to deal with. I will take my business elsewhere which I did and found the same set for...
