Came here in the summer just to visit the local music store when i went I did feel uneasy about the energy and the looks i got but i thought it was just me. A guy proceeded to find me and the drum section and asked me why i was there (maybe because it’s a store) I asked about them selling any electronic drums sets and got laughed at but i was thinking maybe there was some other context to warrant the laugh. I revisited today with my dad with the intention to buy drum heads and browse. Upon walking in a guy asked me what i was looking for and i told him i wanted to just look around and he wouldn’t stop asking me until i told him i needed heads which he proceeded to direct me to the drum heads making sure i went nowhere else (so much for trying to just look around enjoy myself). I had let my dad know that i hadn’t measured my heads to make sure the size but i was pretty confident in what i thought they were. The guy checked in on my dad to see if there was an issue and my dad told him exactly what i told him and proceeded to tell him that he’s not a drummer and that im the professional, the guy gave back a snappy response of “well she’s not a professional if she didn’t measure her heads” which obviously left terrible taste in my mouth considering everything else that has happened, not saying that i am a professional it just not great customer service to give a response like that. He immediately came back and started questioning me about everything even though i was consistent on telling him that “i got it” and that his “assistance” wasn’t needed. Upon me paying for the heads he pressed the issue further, saying that I would be back. I basically told him it’s my problem if it doesn’t fit(i basically had to convince this guy to let me spend my own money at his store). All in all it was not a great experience being here and i personally assume that there was prejudice against me (of darker skin and not very feminine). I felt that these people undermined me for no real given reason. This is just my experience though perhaps it’s different for others. Btw the heads i chose fit just fine. Edit: I experienced what i experienced, these people will say or do whatever they have to do to invalidate my experience, whether it’s sugarcoating, gaslighting, etc and thats fine by me. They’ve deleted/ edited their previous absolutely rude responses. I will just simply keep my business out of this store for the betterment of everyone. This is the last im commenting on this problem, i refuse to keep lowering myself to...
Read moreThis has to be one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Our first encounter was Francisco at the front who had no customer service no personality started talking to my 12 year-old before I even got in the door and then when he had to re-explain things to me he was rather rude about it. I was told by the manager that if I filled out the paperwork that they would have me an instrument by today I told them that I didn’t know the procedures and that it could take a couple of days and I needed it by tonight and he said that he could make it happen. They told me it would be a while because suddenly they got busy so I sat down And as I’m sitting down, my son walks by one of the speakers Him and the manager proceeds to tell me that it was my fault. It was not my fault. The shelf broke and the speaker fell in my child and bruised his nose and then a little bit time had elapsed and my son who was 12 and very anxious to get his instrument and the store had slowed down and asked how much longer it would be and Francisco told him as though we would get to it in the process. Should take about 20 minutes And then the manager looked at me and said you need to watch your kids so I can process everything and I said I am watching my kids. They are sitting on my lap and then he proceeded to go off about the speaker and I said he didn’t touch the speaker. The speaker fell on him and he looked at me and lit. I don’t have to give you your instrument and really was very rude about it so I waited a few more minutes and he comes up to me and informs me that he can’t process my request because they’re busy at this time. They had one customer in there and she was leaving said you told me you could process my request and he refused to process my request for my son instrument after originally telling me that he could I would like the owner Doug to contact me because this is not the way you handle customer service and this is not the way you handle customers. It was a bad vibe and bad customer service from the second. We walked through the Door Kind of explains by the outside of the store looks so terrible and so ran down your outside of your store should Reflect a welcoming environment and it felt sketchy from the moment we walked in and then how we were treated. I just can’t even put into words one of the worst experiences...
Read moreI have gone to this store for 15+ years. I used to buy a lot of my drum stuff here. Used to take my guitars to get set up here all the time. And now I can say I have watched it deteriorate into the abysmal shell of a music store that it is now. It's a joke. I can look past the terrible stock, the constant technical issues the store has that results in having to leave and get cash (unacceptable in 2025 to be clear, but I can look past it,) never answering the phone for whatever reason, and the GROSS price spikes on a lot of their product; what I can't look past is how rude, ignorant, and lazy the staff is. I mean, they don't know ANYTHING related to music. They will say ANYTHING no matter how wrong and ridiculous it is to try and get you to buy something. RECOMMENDING that I get full scale bass strings for my short scale because you don't carry short scale bass strings is ridiculous and can damage the bass. It's shocking, honestly. Absolutely shocking. But they don't care. They see you as a dollar sign and nothing more. They don't care about music and they don't care about the community. But you know what, I even looked past that, and gave them one more chance. My final straw was yesterday when I asked a simple question and got made to feel like an idiot. Do you rent violins to adults? A simple no would've sufficed. That's not what I got. Instead I got a snide remark about me not being in middle school and that NO PLACE rents out violins to adults. Ronald Sachs does, wonder why you didn't point me there? Are you ignorant, or do you just not care since you see me as a dollar sign and nothing more? It's shameful and you should ALL be ashamed in that store.
If you need a violin or viola, go to Ronald Sachs and you'll have an amazing experience. If you need a new instrument like a guitar or bass, go to Guitar Center, people there are gonna care WAY MORE than here. If you need strings, maybe stop by, but understand that you better know what you need going in or they're going to try and scam you. I'm disgusted by what used to be my home music store. It's a ghost town now and you have no one to blame but yourselves.
I'm sure I'll get a response from the owner playing the victim and taking NO ACCOUNTABILITY because that's what they do at Jackson...
