The hubby & I were shopping around for a tall chest of drawers to go with our headboard and night stands in our bedroom. We decided to check out mattresses because it’s been over 20 years since we had a new mattress. We spoke with Russ Poderzay, who was extremely knowledgeable in the field of mattresses and very helpful. We wanted to talk things over before we made a decision so, we asked for his card and the basics we had discussed during our visit. On our way out, we looked around for a chest of drawers but didn’t see anything we liked. After we left, I looked on line to see if I could find anything. I came across a chest of drawers that looked similar to the other bedroom pieces and, lo and behold, it was available at Ashley - Furniture Mart. So we headed back and were greeted by Josh Landin. He assisted us & found out that the chest of drawers on line was not in their store. However, he showed us some similar pieces that were of much better quality. I walked around for 15-20 minutes before I was greeted. There was hardly anyone there, yet they put their youngest and most inexperienced sales representative on me.
I've worked in the automotive world for years and was embarrassed by how unprofessional the representative was. I was simply looking for a bedframe for a queen bed with storage. He kept trying to upsell a full bedroom set - no matter how many times I said no. Whether you're new to sales or not, rule #1. LISTEN to your customer's needs. Don't walk all over them.
After an hour of being there (I needed a replacement bedframe ASAP since my other one broke), I gave up. I was so burnt out. I threw his card away and looked up other furniture stores in the area. I successfully found something better.
