Kittitas County Trading Co. — Local services in Ellensburg

Been here a few times to be sure my lousey service wasnt just someone having a bad day. It wasn't. Every employee is rude and acts like I'm bothering them. Their selection is meh. A few firearms I've been interested in we're either over priced or in poor repair or both. They may have a customer base somewhere but I prefer my firearms to be in safe working order with no question about their function. The last time I was in (which will be the final time) I was looking at a rifle for a few minutes when an employee walked in front of the gun I was holding and told me I needed to "stop pointing it at him" and that "you need to know where you're pointing it at all times". I said "you weren't even around when I picked this gun up and you're right YOU do need to know where I'm pointing it at all times"...

It's a pawn shop, what, you want as-new MSRP for whatever used junk you wanna sell them?

I've bought things there that you can't get elsewhere in town and had no issues.

I don't go there to get patronized, so maybe I'm just not too personally bothered by the people there treating me like some dude that walked in rather than God's gift to their entire existence. Honestly, I'd dislike it much more to have some scripted welcome and to get bombarded by fake smiles and small talk that no one involved really wants to trudge through.

I go there for specific reasons. When I do so, I encounter no issues. What else...

I, have been a customer for a few years now, first on the pawn side of the store looking for and often finding great deals on guitars, amps, computers, sporting goods, etc. I eventually graduated to the firearms side of the store when my daughter moved to Ellensburg who is a longtime firearm enthusiast. You can usually find a great deal on new and used firearms and supplies. The staff is friendly, helpful and very knowable.
