Today, I needed to take my special needs daughter to the ER for an urgent medical concern, which could not wait over the weekend for her primary care physician to be address on Monday. Once in our room, a nurse talked to us, and later, a doctor came into the room. The doctor was utterly uncaring and did not seem to care for my daughter's pain or my concern for her health. At one point, he became argumentative to the point that I informed him he could stop this conversation in front of my daughter and asked him to please allow another physician to take care of her, but this was not done. At this point, my daughter felt unwilling to have the physician look at her further, so we left and went to another Hospital. I absolutely don’t recommend this emergency department for future care
7/122025 I drove over this morning to get imaging for my child and they tell me I can’t get it done that no order was sent over and that was a lie the African-American ladies at the desk while I sit down to type a message to our provider or make a rude comments and things about us being there for emoji and just going on and on being disrespectful, I just continued on with my message to my provider then left made a call into the provider office to get the order sent to myself so I can hand take the order in so I took a second trip over the same lady began huffing and puffing like she were bothered to do her job like she was bothered that we was there she then went on to say does this really need to be done today? I went on to say my child has been suffering a very long time with no answers as of today why I am BM. There are upcoming test for my child. We would like to have it done so the doctor will have the results before the testing that is upcoming, so yes, it needs to be done today after checking us in well I guess she checked us in properly. I don’t know kind of question that too. Because usually when you check in, you’re gonna get some kind of papers in return, I wasn’t given anything. I was then told to go down to the waiting room for radiology while down there, I was there for extended. then eventually a mail comes out, taking us back to the room, leaving us there again to sit and wait extended. I asked a couple times how long is this going to take all we kept getting was excuses at one point we had to step out of the room for my child to vomit and I informed him of this upon returning we were locked out of the room for extended period time in the hallway. I see our employee working walking the hall, and I asked her excuse me, ma’am could someone let me back in our room she looks right at me and walks on so then I proceeded on to try and find someone for which at the end of the hall, there was no one at the desk so upon walking back so as I’m walking back talking to my daughter and man asked what’s the problem I said the problem is we’ve been locked out of our room. We’ve been waiting for a very extended period of time from the time we checked in to waiting room radiology area, then being brought back left to wait on the table for extended periods leaving the room briefly to go to the restroom so my child can vomit and I’ll be locked out of the room waiting in the hallway once entering the room, a female as she opened, the door was being rude, making jesters with her hands just absolutely unprofessional. It wasn’t until I got back on the phone with our providers office to give them the rundown on what’s transpiring that a man comes into the room finally ready to do the imaging well, this hospital has a lot of things they need to fix, including working or not hiring people that are so insensitive rude and don’t care about patients The ER lady that was disrespectful at the front. Her name is Tracy in the back, the little young CT tech named Dana very unprofessional...
Read moreI'll be the first one to praise a Healthcare provider for exceptional service, however, if I am to be honest, in terms of graciousness and attitude of the staff, they are sorely lacking. On more than one occasion the staff has responded in a confrontational manner. Rather than being pleasant, they seem to think they are there for some other reason than the patient. As a former healthcare administrator, I would not tolerate this unprofessional behavior. Let's be real, would you (providers) accept this behavior if you were paying for this service. Not!
Update: I had to go to Saxony ER for a possible stroke on October 1, 2020. With the exception of one RN (CC) the professionalism of the nursing and medical staff was appalling — according to IU Patients Rights, I believe that numerous patient rights were violated. I was in the ER for approximately 10 hours. Despite numerous attempts to get an accurate update on my condition, I never received one. Furthermore, despite having numerous MRI s of my brain with a Surgical Implant in my skull (BAHA) they refused to do the MRI until AFTER I called the BAHA manufacturer who then explained it was ok to do the MRI. I hate to think what might have happened had I actually had a stroke and did not receive timely intervention!!! Finally, I was admitted. The next day my assigned nurse (RN) saw me at the very beginning of the shift and the next time when I was being discharged that afternoon despite several attempts by nurses call bell to request her assistance earlier that day. This was a totally frustrating and extremely stressful experience — one that could have exasperated my physical condition and most certainly affected my mental state. My wife and I will never use IU Saxony emergency services or be admitted to the...
Read moreLet’s talk about Kim Baase from the respiratory therapy team! This woman restores your faith in the healthcare system! She represents what healthcare is all about!
My mother had surgery in another hospital and after I brought her home with me to recover, she developed pneumonia and ended up back in the hospital. We ended up needing to go home on oxygen and I was extremely uncomfortable. The tubing was long enough to be a serious tripping hazard, flammable metal canisters with mysterious knobs and unrecognizable meters, and two machines that were foreign to me. It was all overwhelming at first. Kim took allllll the time I needed to ask 1000 questions, clarified anything I needed to know or felt unsure about, helped me load up the equipment in my car, double-checked to make sure the company who brought everything to us during our discharge had given me all of the correct connections, went over our spirometer homework assignments and goals, and gave me all the tricks and tips to make me feel confident in my mother’s discharge and taking her home!
She’s smiley, funny, personable, and makes you feel more relaxed. Her bedside “oxygen school” is the best education someone oxygen illiterate can get! The amount of time and compassion this woman had for me, not even being the patient, but making sure I could give my mother the best care at home with confidence is not something you see everyday. 5-GOLD stars!
You should probably give her a raise - she’s putting everyone to shame. You don’t want to lose her; she’s helping make this hospital look like one of the best in the city!
I would 100% return to this hospital and know we would receive...
