Received a flyer in the mail stating 1/2 off an appetizer deal with the purchase of large pie. The chicken wings looked amazing on the flyer so I made a mental note to check this place out when I had a chance. On Sat a friend asked if I wanted to hang out and I said sure. I have a new place that I want to try. We arrive close to 5pm and the place is pretty empty so we were seated immediately. Our server introduced herself and I realized I left the flyer at home. I described the flyer and asked if they would still allow us to receive the discount even though I didnt have it physically present. Our server told us that she was new and would need to speak with the manager. She took our drink order I asked for a water with lime slices. She returned about 10 mins later with our water, no lime slice. She explained that they didnt have any cut and are cutting them now. She asked to take our order, I then asked if she had spoken with the manager about the discount and she said I will do that now. She returned 2 mins later to tell us that they manager said no discount can be applied without having the flyer. I would expect a new restaurant to be less rigid with their rules, but hey their place their rules. I then place an order for the wings, blue cheese and fries. They do not sale fries or blue cheese. I didnt even look at the menu to order the side and condiment as these are staples in most places, but I settled for a house sauce for the wings. The wings were brought out around 10-15 mins later but left a lot to be desired. They looked great but lacked seasoning. They weren't horrible but were just okay. We then placed an order for a 10" cheese pizza. The pizza arrived between 10-15 mins later and was sooooo salty I was taken aback. Apparently they salt the pan then place the cooked pizza on top of the pan before serving. The server asked if I needed a water refill and again returned my water with no lime slice. She again explained that they hadnt yet cut the lime. I was over it at that point. Between the rigid rules, lack of regard for my specific water request and salty pizza I will not...
Read morePrefacing this with by saying it makes me so sad that I feel like it only deserves 3 stars, but food taste/quality is only a part of the dining experience. (I haven’t done carry out, but at this point - that’s the only way we’ll consider being patrons here again)
Pizza skins: I was so confused as to what these looked like. (See pic of my super altered version 😂) After over a dozen visits to the restaurant, I finally tried them. And I’m SO sad I waited so long. They’re delicious. I don’t eat bacon, so ordered that on the side. Waitress recommended the sour cream on the side so it wasn’t all melted on there - great call. Honestly a 5 star dish. Potatoes have amazing flavor and crust is always great here. 🤤
Elote pizza: delicious. Seems like a strange pie, but YUM if you like Mexican street corn. I will say they’re VERY inconsistent with toppings quantities, so sometimes you get like no corn, and other times it’s a lot. Sometimes you get what looks like 7-8 slices of jalapeño and other times you feel like you got a few whole jalapeños sliced up. But overall, super tasty.
Service is hit or miss. Management is awful. We tried to quietly, respectfully, reasonably discuss with management our issues after it took us almost 2 hours to get pizza skins and a pizza, while everyone’s food was coming out around us, and he started yelling, ripped our drinks away, telling us we wanted free beer and to dip out on our check (mind you, we had already put all the cash on the check to pay for the meal) but felt he should have comped SOMETHING since it took an eternity to get our meal out. We “had to” order a second pitcher of beer to have a drink WITH our meal, and felt it would be nice if he comped out something. This WAS mine and my bf’s favorite impromptu date night spot at least monthly, but haven’t been back since January after my friend and I...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here for a date night. We had a coupon for a free specialty pizza, and we prefer to support local businesses as opposed to national chains so decided to give Pies & Pints a try.
We split a large pie. He chose something with mushrooms for his half, and I got the sriracha shrimp for mine. We each tried both, but preferred our own selections. I am not a fan of thin crust pizza (and didn't see an option on the specialty pizzas for thicker crust), but this was the best thin crust I've ever had. It's not the crunchy cracker-like crust I despise, but a true bread crust that's actually just thin. The texture was just a tiny bit crispy on the outside, then a bread-like inside. The toppings were amazing. Each bite was slightly different depending on the toppings in that bite. It had a much more complex flavor than most pizza. We also shared a dessert, the chocolate and peanut butter terrine I believe. The chocolate layers were more crispy (like a cookie) than I had expected, but it was very good. It was so rich we were glad we were sharing. Our server, Eryn, was a delight. She was helpful and cheerfully answered all our questions. She was attentive without being intrusive, and generally added to our pleasant experience.
This is one pizza place you could be comfortable bringing out of town guests or business associates and know you won't just get run of the mill pizza. There's quite a lot on offer on the menu, so pizza is not the only option. The atmosphere and decor are quite upscale without being at all stuffy. It's a bit noisy (we went on a Thursday night) , so don't plan on a large table being able to have a single conversation, but we were able to carry on our conversation without too...
