My thirteen year old son and I visited this Plato's (8680 E 96th St, Fishers, IN 46037, at approximately 4:00 PM Sunday Dec 11). My son wanted to raise cash for Christmas so we took four of his favorite Ralph Lauren button-down shirts to sell. I was referred to this Plato's by my teenage daughter who buys and sells there quite often. Kennedy, the clerk, looked my name up in their system, checked the items in, asked me to accept an agreement, and whether I wanted to wait while the items were evaluated. I asked to be notified via text when a decision was made. I received a text message at 5:40 PM, but the store closed at 6:00 PM and I live 20 -25 minutes from the store. I called Monday afternoon to ask if Plato's was interested in buying the items and if not, make arrangements to pick them up. I was informed of âPlato's same-day policyâ by Darian and told there was nothing there with my name on it. I explained to Darian I brought four Ralph Lauren button-down shirts on hangers Sunday afternoon. She reminded of the policy again and stated they âmust have been donatedâ. When I explained to her there wasnât enough time for me to drive to the store before closing and asked to speak to a Manager ask me to hold then came back and said her manager was checking in the back to see if they had already gone out with donations. I asked again to speak to a Manager and Darian put Assistant Manager Katrina Pal on the phone. I explained to Katrina there wasnât enough time to return to the store before it closed after receiving the text message and she stated "there must have been a glitch in the system", apologized and said there was nothing she could do. I then asked to speak to the Store Manager and she asked me to hold. Without muting the phone, I heard her talking to Store Manager Amy James who couldn't take my call because she was "on lunch break". I could hear the entire conversation including Katrinaâs comments that "he isn't being real mean, but he doesn't get it" and "I explained the policy to him but he was like blah, blah, blah...should I tell him to call the office". When Katrina returned to the phone I informed her that I heard the entire conversation. She was clearly embarrassed by how she characterized me and my situation and how she and Amy James completely dismissed and disregarded my comments and concerns. I asked to speak directly to Amy James and was told she still couldnât take my call because she was still âon her lunch breakâ. Suffice it to say no one from my family will EVER return to this or any other Platoâs Closet. I had heard stories from friends and family members over the years about how badly they were treated at Platoâs, but I thought they were exaggerated. The stories were clearly not exaggerated. Iâm almost at a loss for adjectives to describe the treatment I received â demeaning, humiliating, condescending, belittling, insulting, heartless, unprofessional, and void of compassion. I would hope Platoâs management would be embarrassed by this behavior, but I suspect itâs not an isolated case. Apparently you have to give at least a one star rating in order to post a...
Read moreOn November 25th I took two Ikea bags full of clothing to sell to Platoâs Closet Fishers. We came in at opening and we finished the check-in process at 10:03. At 10:09 I received a text that our clothes were ready. There is no way they could have gone through the amount of clothing we brought in five minutes. When we went to pick the clothes up, the girl who got our clothes back from was incredibly rude. She told us our clothes smelled like dog (we have poodles- so no shed fur or, in my opinion, smell as they are groomed every 6 weeks) and were too dirty to buy. She was very disrespectful and talked down to us like we were âdirtyâ, which was embarrassing because she talked loud. The clothes were not dirty. We washed them the day before and folded them nicely. When we took the clothes back to our car we opened the bag, the clothes had not been moved at all. They were folded exactly the same and hadnât been touched at all. I left the clothes in my car exactly as they were. I then took them to Platoâs Closet on E Washington Street on Nov 29th. They looked through my clothes and offered us $40. So the problem was not the clothes.
I get that our fashion might not be the most demand at Fishers. Weâre plus sized, and there was a good amount from Shein. However, I am not upset that they didnât buy our clothes at Fishers. I am upset at the rudeness of the store associate and the way she felt that it was acceptable to talk down to us and make us feel dirty and less than. It was also the fact that they made this assumption without even looking at our clothes.
I havenât had great experiences in the past at this store. This is not the first time I have felt a store associate was disrespectful or was uppity/talks down. If it was, I probably would have brushed this off as I have in the past. However, it has become apparent that this is a repeated pattern of behavior for the associates...
Read moreHonestly wasnât even going to leave a review until I seen the rest of the reviews. Like everyone else says thereâs no point in even selling your clothes here. I brought in a big bag full of over 20 name brand, in style dresses ranging from fashion nova to SHEIN to forever 21. When I got to the store I saw many signs saying to sell your trendy short dresses. It took over an hour to go through it then they offered me $2.60. Listen to the rest of the reviews this was a huge waist of time. This wasnât my first time selling to them either. Iâve been a member since 2018. They havenât gotten any better about buying and I really agree with another persons review saying they donât even know how theyâre still in business when they never buy clothes and when they do they offer dirt. Would give 0 stars if possible. Also if majority of your clothes are old and dingy and have stains and holes then I donât understand why you try to be so hard on what you purchase even though itâs actually name brand and good condition clothes. Also they say that itâs hard for them to sell at that location but it doesnât make sense for that to be hard to sell but all those worn down clothes from the 2000âs are supposed to be easier to sell? If you didnât hike up your prices on the good stuff then it probably wouldnât be that hard. And they donât buy good condition shoes either, but will gladly sell busted dirty old shoes for crazy prices.
Update 4 days later: I took the same bag of clothes to the Avon location but before I took the bag in I looked in the bag I noticed the fishers location only looked at the 3 dresses on top and everything else in the bag was folded exactly how I left it. Anyways I took it into the avon location and they bought over half the clothes. Donât waist your time at the fishers location just go to...
