I usually love Michaels for all my crafting supplies, but my recent experience there has me questioning whether or not I’ll go back. One particular employee is always a bit rude, though the rest are typically very nice. This past visit, the employee named “Rachel” tried to lie to me in order to make it seem like she was doing me a favor. They had a sale sign hanging in the baking isle. It was hanging by the chocolates but it read that “all baking and decorating supplies” was buy one get one 50% off. I love baking so I was excited for this. Both my fiancé and I saw the sign and can both confirm it said that “all baking and decorating supplies” were applicable. I got to check out and the lady knew nothing about the sign but was very sweet and apologetic and said she would try to find out. That’s when the employee Rachel came over and my experience changed. She didn’t even introduce herself, just used to headset to ask someone to look for the sign. The other employee found it, brought it up and told Rachel it had been hanging by the chocolates. Rachel never even looked at the sign but told me since it was by the chocolates it only applied to them. I said no, the sign said all baking and decorating. Rachel sighed and rolled her eyes at me and spoke to me in a very condescending tone our entire interaction and told me I was wrong. Again, both my fiancé and I had read the sign. Rachel then said “look I’ll do you this favor one time but this won’t be done for you again” and gave me the deal. She then told me the sale had expired so she shouldn’t have to do this anyway. Why would an expired sale be hanging in their store? And if it is, they should honor it since they were still advertising it. Throughout the entire interaction Rachel was incredibly condescending, rude, and blatantly lied to me. Not sure I will return if that’s how a loyal customer is treated. If you go to this Michaels, be sure to avoid Rachel if you don’t want to be attacked for telling...
Read moreIt's usually busy here. They also have deep discount sales quite often. You need to make sure you are getting the item off the shelf with the price you think is marked. I was making a purchase yesterday and after waiting at the cash register in a long line, the item rung up for more than I had determined it would be at 60% off. The cashier told me the item was more than what I thought it was marked. And that was that. I went ahead and paid because it was a gift.
As I was walking out I asked the manager to have her staff please make sure the frames were in their correct spots on the shelf because I just had to pay more for a frame that was not correctly labeled on the shelf. She asked if the cashier gave me the price I thought it was and I explained she didn't. The manager made it right. That's the kind of service all stores should teach their employees to keep customers coming back.
The store doesn't always have what I'm looking for but when I'm in Flagstaff, I always stop in to see...
Read moreMy wife and I were about two aisles away from a woman who dropped a can of blue spray paint. I guess the nozzle broke, because we could hear the hiss of the paint spraying freely. Some older dude was in the next aisle with a look like "what should I do?" The woman walked up to the front with blue paint on her clean white sneakers and pants. I mentioned to her "Nice D.IY." as she walked past, but I think she was too flummoxed to give me a snarky reply. I overheard someone ask for brush cleaner. Before we left, they were cleaning the floor but it looked stained blue. Also, the woman was back in the aisle because she must really want whatever spray paint she was after. Most of the blue was cleaned off her shoes, but they were still visibly tinted blue. When we left, my wife thought I was stupid for spending ten dollars on Twinkie flavored candy canes. I guess that's expensive, but I'll need to try them out before passing judgement on how dumb I am. Overall, it was entertaining and cheaper...
