I can't say I completely hate it. I can say it is different. There are things I hate, things that annoy me, and things I like about it. Hate 1.They call a penalty shot if the ball hits the ceiling net from a player in their side of pitch. This is the most RIDICULOUS rule I have ever heard. I somewhat understand the side nets being a penalty...somewhat. (Suggestion- do not tell people there isn't an out-of-bounds if the net is in place of a touchline) UPDATED: I didn't explain my frustration exactly as I should. The out-of-bounds ball is placed on a circle right outside the box as a reset for the other team to kick in directly at the goalie. It looks like a penalty shot. It looks like a free kick. But, I understand the action is not an actual penalty kick. 2.They require a new player to purchase a $20 card in June 2015 that expires Sept 2015. They should last a year, right? Nope. They do not unless you are purchasing your card in October 2015. (Suggestion- there should be a prorate amount per season for those only getting to use the cards for 2 months, or better yet- do what Stampede and BlueSky do and give each card an individual expiration date based upon purchase date) UPDATED: I am happy y'all are implementing a new system. However, June to Sept was still $20. But the new changes for prorates are a good thing.
Annoying They require the player to wear indoor shoes. No soft cleats. It is just annoying, because the four other indoor establishments my daughter has played allows soft cleats. (There is a like to this rather annoying rule.) UPDATE: I understand the reasons for the indoor shoes. It is why it fell under "annoyance" rather than "hate". But like I said, great indoor shop that didn't charge me out the wha-zoo for a new pair of shoes for my kid. The seating is pretty much NON-EXISTENT. To watch the game, be prepared to stand the hour and to hope that teams aren't warming up on the heels of the spectators (since there is no other space for warm ups).
Like The staff seems nice, even when telling you of their asinine rules. No one has been a jerk, which is always a good thing. It helps the "hate" and "annoying" list to be easier tolerated. UPDATE: I stand by this so far. There is a rather well-stocked store onsite, and it isn't completely overpriced. This is nice. UPDATE: It is...
Read moreMy son, 14, loves basketball but did not start playing until 2 years ago. I searched online and found Game On. It was on the opposite side of town, but my son really wanted to gain more fundamental training and game experience. I signed him up for the basketball academy, and that went well. Ethan worked hard and learned more than he knew before and more than I would have imagined he could learn in 8 weeks. It was evident the coaches were knowledgeable and experienced. We learned there was a Spring League and asked if the league was recreational because I wanted to ensure that my son, who did not have as much experience as the others, would get sufficient game experience to improve his game and catch up with the other players sometime soon. We were ensured it was. Ethan was getting a lot less playing time than others, and there were a couple of occasions where players from other teams played in games with our team, and Ethan’s playing time was limited. I was not happy with that, but when I voiced it to the staff, we had a meeting to talk things out. My concerns were heard, and Game On ensured me they would take my feedback and try to improve where needed. The coach shook my hand and told me he would work on things. Immediately in the next game my son had as much playing time as anyone else on the team - not that that is always expected or necessary - just mainly that no outside players are allowed to come in and play and take time away. Regardless, the staff and coach made me feel like my concerns were heard, and they responded. Ethan loves the coach and the venue. The arena is amazing. The only other suggestion is that the site needs to have better communication. There were two occasions where there were additional games added so we were playing back to back, and we were not notified in advance so we had to change plans. Also, response time from messages left on the site needs to improve. I am certain the staff will improve in those areas too - based on my experience with them ...
Read moreI really don't have much good to say about this facility besides the fact that it's new looking and clean. We signed our 10 year old son up for their BOYS basketball league and it seems like the team he was put on was all the left over kids that other coaches did not want. The size and skill level we went up against week after week was ridiculous considering 5 or 6 players out of the 9 on our team had never played basketball before. Also, it wound up being coed with only 1 other team having a female on their team. Then there were the referees who seemed to be confused as to what the rules were and just plain (for the most part) did not seem to know how to call a game. They were nice just very disorganized. Oh let's not forget to mention the front desk staff that were rude and how most of the time did know or could not answer questions directed at them regarding rules for bball and or facility questions. The front desk personnel refused to let us check out a bball (saying they had none except for a crappy flat ball) when in fact there was an entire rack behind him. My son had left his in my car and his dad had driven to practice. There is no locker room (that I ever came across). For a place that offers so many sports, you would think having a place for athletes to change in besides a bathroom stall would be included. Our overall experience with this facility was horrible. We will not be returning and feel like the 125.00 spent on this league was a giant waste of money. If for 1 second I thought my kid had enjoyed playing there and for his team then maybe this review would have been written differently. But that wasn't the case. Week after week he was miserable and wanted to quit. He knows it's not all about winning but the stacked teams they played against did NOTHING to help his...
