Let's just say I am less than impressed... I went in looking for a last minute outfit for an event. Now I don't have high expectations for big department stores and I entered on a whim. Just trying to find something comfortable to wear for a semi-formal event. I navigated the store with no interaction from staff at all. Found what I was looking for. It was an item that was on sale as a final sale item and I was okay with that. It is when I went to check out that I was disappointed. The staff was not very friendly. They let me know that the item was a final sale item and that I could not return it if anything happened, which I was okay with. When I went to pay my chip in my card was not working. To which the staff physically took my card and said just tap it. I know my bank does not currently offer that feature so I couldn't tap if I wanted to, and I know that oftentimes chips just get worn out and you just have to try it a couple times and at very least swipe it. I tried to explain that I just had to put it in until it asked me to swipe and they continuously tried to force it to go through via the tapping payment method. Finally, realizing that my card would not do that, they then again inserted it and it went through.
I thought that that off-putting experience was bad enough, but then I got home and found out they left a security tag on the pant leg of the item I purchased. The security tag did not set anything off as I walked out of the store so I was not aware until I got home that it was still on. Had I known I would have immediately gone back and had them remove it but that was not the case and by the time I realized it was still on there I was over an hour and a half away from that location with no Macy's nearby. Overall kind of soured my experience of Macy's and will not...
Read moreMacys has a ridiculous policy for returning items that don’t have the tag attached. I just recently purchased a dress that is in perfect condition and was not worn, had the receipt, and had the tags for the dress but they were not attached. The department Manager, Julie, initially refused to accept the dress or explain the reason for why I have to return the dress with the tags attached, after confirming that they can in fact reattach the tag. She eventually gave me store credit that won’t be sent to my home address for 2-3 weeks. I understand that the policy is not her fault, but Macys should re-evaluate their return policy if they’re telling me I can’t return a perfectly good dress, unworn, because a tag (that can be reattached) is not attached to the dress. That to me is very unreasonable and unrealistic. As for the Manager, it’s not your fault that the policy is that way, I understand you are just doing your job, but a customer’s perception is their reality and you could have done a much better job with handling the situation. You were very dry, unwelcoming and unfriendly. Not only that, but you were not thorough in asking me to confirm my address when requesting to send me store credit in the form of a gift card. Luckily I caught it before you submitted the request. I too am a manager and understand how somethings are out of my control, but what is in your control as a manager is how you treat your...
Read moreSo incredibly disappointed. The gentleman at the service desk was AWESOME. I had an online order sent to the store and picked it up. TIP ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS open your package at the counter. I opened one and it was fine, didn't open the second one.... Big MISTAKE, LEARN FROM ME! Luckily, I was smart enough to open it on the parking lot, but sure wish they saw what I saw when it was opened. It looked like a used box, with old used wrapping of what clothes were in. They were labeled small yoga, etc. Not just bubble wrap like the first one, but trash. Like they just reused it. The perfume box set was totally askew and one of the lids was completely off shaking around in the box while the little bottle was completely MISSING! I go back in, the gentleman immediately recognized me, because I was JUST there and asked a Clinique person to walk me back to Lancome so they could return it and help me. They were NOT friendly or of much help, m not sure if it's because they didn't get the whole story from the beginning it what, but I already reached out and explained what happened to the store so I won't rehash it here. My only suggestion is that you do NOT assume just because this is Macy's, they can't make mistakes. This was a frustrating experience, but I know I'll be back. Did I mention, OPEN YOUR ONLINE...
