First of all, this place is hugely overpriced. I went in looking for Christmas Gift popcorn in gift tins for relatives. The young gal at the front counter was friendly enough but totally deferential to the apparent owner/manager on everything. The owner/manager stayed mostly out of sight. I had questions. I wanted a specific mixture that included maple and/or caramel and nuts. They were out of this that AND the other combination that i named from their menu.
My questions raised the attention of the owner/manager who made a bee-line for the counter - but with a scowl on her face. This unpleasant person may know her corn pop but she DOESN'T know customer service. As i asked about the listed/priced items the owner/manager asked me why i seemed so unpleasant. Deflection much?!? THAT should have been a signal to save my money and just walk out.
Except i had out-of-town Christmas guests coming in, and i needed two quick gift solutions. So i went ahead and made my purchase. It was btw, exceedingly, excessively EXPENSIVE. No, this place is an absolute rip-off. More on this in a second.
All the mixing of popcorn, sweet stuff and nuts takes place out of sight - done by the grumpy CHIP ON THE SHOULDER owner-manager. So only after i got home did i realize, that their caramel corn with nuts has VERY FEW actual nuts.
I was in town the next day and stopped in to register my dissatisfaction. Courteously and calmly. Ms. Angry InYoFace was having none of it. At the mere mention of the slightest criticism, she verbally accosted me. I was fine with it since she was the proprietor with undealt with customers. I was happy for a store full of customers to hear that woman's wrath.
Bottom line: If you want an overly aggressive InYoFace angry woman selling you crazily overpriced, movie popcorn, THIS PLACE IS FOR YOU! But why subject yourself to verbal assault by an angry pickpocket?!? Buy some Cracker Jacks or Movie Time & watch this place run itself out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy boyfriend and I went in to get some popcorn before the Richmond race because we thought that would be a good snack at the race track and the lady who served us, one of the co-owners, was incredibly rude and snarky to all of her employees the entire time we were there I even told my boyfriend when we left oh my God I feel so bad for the people who worked there because she was so mean and honestly, some of her employees look scared of her like scared to ask her questions because sheās going to turn around and be condescending and mean. Then we got into the popcorn and it was stale and mid at best. I donāt know. I just went into a small popcorn shop kind of expecting good vibes good business, good popcorn especially because I love to support small businesses in downtown Fredericksburg but unfortunately the popcorn was old and the vibes were bad and the lady was mean to her employees so no I donāt think be back. There are better, popcorn places out there. Honestly, I feel like Orville instant popcorn in my own microwave or moose munch around the holidays would be better. And again, honestly, if it werenāt for how rude she was to her employees the entire time we were there I probably wouldāve given the popcorn at least three maybe four stars, but itās not worth it to go into a business and hear you berate your employees just to get mid at best...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePopcorn to die for. The smell from the sidewalk is intoxicating, and if you've never been here before, the sheer magnitude of flavors are overwhelming. Not to frett, the lovely associate we spoke with offered small sample cups (about 1-3 pcs of popcorn) for the flavors we were interested in. We wound up buying 1lb. of butter, 1lb. of cheddar in one two-pound tin with lovely winter snowflakes on it (mainly for my mom, as she was more than a little intimidated by all the choices and decided to start out with what she already knows), and one more pound of cookies and cream (made with Oreos), in a smaller one-pound tin.
The cookies and cream popcorn is divine. Sweet but not sickeningly so. Plus there were some crumpled up Oreos in there. The butter and cheddar flavors are equally delicious. My mom made the observation just today that each piece of popcorn is evenly coated with the flavor, and holds onto the moisture of the flavor while managing not to get soggy (stays crisp).
This place is pure gold! An absolute treasure! We will most definitely be back for more. And we can't get over how awesome the popcorn is. It's definitely worth...
