TechFix Repairs — Local services in Fredericksburg

Place deserves a negative rating. I went to this place 3 times prior, so you would think they would value a returning customer. No such luck, the wrong part was ordered for my phone by another rep and it would have to be re-ordered. Since I had already waited a week for the part ( they called wrong number when the part came in and as a result I was not notified the part had arrived, yet another mistake) and now would have to wait an extended amount of time to get the right part, I asked for the part to be over nighted.

The person I was dealing with, whom I believe is the owner became very angry and said he is not paying the $37 to over night the part. I said his rep ordered the wrong part and I am heading on vacation soon and as a customer courtesy for all the business I have given you that's the least you can do. He proceeded to argue with me and even told me "it is not his fault I am going on vacation and I would have to pay the over night fee if I wanted it tomorrow". I got my deposit refunded and took my business to a repair spot in downtown Fredericksburg and the other phone repair spot even over nighted the part for free, even though I had never done businss with then before.

The owner of PRG has gotten cocky and arrogant. When he ran his business out of a small cart in Spots mall he cared about his customers. Now that he has a store front he feels he can bully his customers. Well as I told him, he can't bully me.

Please take your business elsewhere! In response to the owner message below, your ridiculous and I pitty you. You are not worthy of my time.

So a couple months ago I shattered my screen and took it here for a quick fix. The charge was well over $200 but I figured they were an honest company and comparable pricing. Well, when I got my phone back it "worked" but when I got my new otterbox a few days after I noticed there were scratches on my phone. I remembered the guy I dealt with saying they wouldn't cover it and it was cosmetic so I didn't think anything of it. Well a couple months go by and my screen starts freezing intermittently. Sometimes it would be for a minute, sometimes for up to 20 minutes. Again, didn't think anything of it I thought it was just my luck. Well, fast forward to today, my friends phone crashed and we went into apple to get it exchanged or fixed. While there I asked them what was wrong with my phone. They immediately knew it wasn't an apple compliant screen. On top of that the seal around the screen wasn't sealed correctly making my phone no longer was water resistive. They then took it to the back and came back and told me the components to the screen were just sitting there and super loose and there was no way the person knew what they were doing. Now not only did I need to pay between 200-250 for your "service" I had to pay another 150 through apple because they put a non apple compliant screen in my phone. Stay far far away from this place! Ripoff and they screwed...

Let me start this off by saying I usually don’t take the time to write reviews.

TechFix has become me and my mother’s go-to for all our tech issues and inquiries. We discovered Eric’s shop a few months back after my mother shattered her phone and were going to different shops to receive quotes. Eric (the owner) has beyond reasonable prices and is very knowledgeable on all things tech. Eric is a very friendly guy and has been more than helpful in addressing our various smartphone and laptop issues. While there we have purchased screen protectors and cases which have been durable enough to protect our phones! Also with Eric most days is his co-worker/co-owner, Nova the golden German Shepard. Nova’s size may be intimidating, but he is frankly just a giant puppy who is happy to greet everyone and hopefully make a playmate or ten. He is sweet and it is always a pleasure to see both him and Eric. If you are a dog person or have a tech issue, or some combination of such, you should really stop by!

And be sure to be kind to Nova, he needs all the love after his surgery and ill-treatment...
