ProTech computer repair — Local services in Fredericksburg

Took my laptop there for a cracked screen and battery replacement. The shop fried my motherboard while replacing the battery. Then replaced my laptop with a USED laptop with a worst graphics card and GPU. Essintially a model lower laptop. Very unprofessional for a shop that works on computers for a living. After letting the shop know I was not happy they refunded most of my money and agreed to cover the used laptop for 1 year if I decided to keep it after I found it wasn't as good of a model I had. I agreed even if I was not very happy about it. Well 3 weeks into this used laptop the hinges are broken that hold the screen. I've reached out multiple times and have been told for over a month now they cant get the parts to repair the laptop and there is nothing they can do. Totally unprofessional. I dont understand how they can be 4.9 out of 5 stats on Google. Id leave a 0 star if I could.

EDIT This edit is in response to the owners reply to my review. Right of the gate Ill just say they gave me the cheaper used replacement laptop on March 18th. I contacted them on May 7th which is barley over a month and the hinges in the replacement where broken. He is claiming I contacted him 6 months later that is a huge red flag just blatantly lieing he mentions 6 months multiple times trying to make it sound better but I contacted him 5 weeks after i recieved the replacement that the hinges where broken. Also I have the messages that said they would warranty the used laptop for a year so who cares if it was 1 month or 6 months it wasn't honered. He also said they paid for my broken laptop which was not true. I paid almost 500 for repairs I was refunded 375. In return I got a used laptop that was a lower model then my original. This entire transaction has been terrible and is not professional at all. Buyer beware. He is lying in his response to try to cover himself. I literally have text messages that can backup everything Im saying. I almost never leave reviews. My experience was so bad that not only did I leave a bad review I had to make an edit after seeing the ridiculous lie filled response the owner posted....

I would give this place 10 stars if I could!

Simply put, Mo is wonderful! He listened to my concerns and completely validated them even if they were "unnecessary".

Within 10- 15 minutes of arriving, he diagnosed my problem and walked me through my options. He gave me an incredible price for parts and labor then returned my pc to me, better than ever in two days! He even cleaned up my messy files and removed an extra operating system I didn't realize I had!

But what I really loved was Mo didn't try to up-sale me on anything. He recommended an AIO that suited MY system and MY needs and got me the best of that. He didn't push something onto me just because it was considered "the best". He even suggested some upgrades to my RAM but said that it was something that could wait for now! Mo really proved over and over again that he really cares about the health and well-being of the system and the pockets of the customer.

It's very very clear to me that Mo really knows his stuff and cares to do things right. I cannot recommended him enough. If you're looking for repairs or even custom builds, this is the place and Mo is your guy. I most certainly will be back if I ever need help...

My laptop started failing late on a Sunday, and I found ProTech. I gave the owner a call, and he picked up right away even at such an odd time. He was able to schedule an appointment for me immediately the next morning, and he even was quick to work around my needs when I found out I had to reschedule.

I brought it in on Tuesday morning, and he skillfully diagnosed and dismantled my laptop. He gave very reasonable quotes, even going so far as the show me which parts were bad and how much each one would cost him. He waited patiently while I stepped out to discuss things with my family.

In spite of the more than reasonable estimates, eventually we decided that we were going to buy a new computer instead of having this one fixed. So, the owner offered me cash on the spot for the broken laptop! It was amazingly generous, and we made a good deal based on the going-price of the machine.

If I was going to be making a custom tower, I would go here in a heartbeat. He had all of the parts for a perfect gaming rig on display in the office, so one could pick out exactly what parts could go into it.
