I’ve been living in Holly Springs since 2016 and when the hospital and urgent care opened in here, I’ve been a consistent patient at this location. Up until this review I was very pleased with our visits however, this past Thursday, there was a distinct change that I needed to bring to their attention. The nurse practitioner was rude and under the guise of efficiency, the meeting felt unnecessarily rushed. My two children and I needed to be tested for Covid due to a teacher of one of my children testing positive. The nurse practitioner called out our medical history without making any attempts to help her assistant with gathering bp or temperatures. She advised her assistant to not take make daughters temperature and I had to insist that she should and will since we are there for Covid tests and obvious cold symptoms. If theres anything that you don’t recognize or is inaccurate on your medical history, wouldn’t one speak up and say that doesn’t sound accurate even if the nurse is unable to update it? Well, of course I did that and I told her that I will talk to my primary care doctor about the error but it certainly is an error. Th NP wanted to tell me my medical history ei “oh this must be from after pregnancy” , no ma’am, I didn’t have xyz before, during, or after pregnancy, but I’ll speak with my primary about it, is what I responded with. I’ve never seen this woman a day in my life, I can assure you I know my medical history. My two children are autistic, so I will have to assist with getting temperatures, if you know you know but my children weren’t unruly for a 6 and 3 year old. The NP said to my son, “Can you stop I can’t hear”. Rude, he’s a 3 year old that I’m currently trying to rangle to sit in my lap to get his temperature taken. I can assure you we wasn’t in the room at 5 minutes at this point. She didn’t even look up. After getting our information both of them just left without letting me know any time frame or what to expect. After realizing they walked out without setting expectations, I asked the assistant to let me know what was happening, I wasn’t rude and neither was she, however, I did let her know I didn’t mind waiting but they left without saying anything. She stated that “Rapid Covid tests take about 10 and 5 minutes had passed”. The assistant at least tried to act kind but clearly following her NP’s lead. Perfectly fine but you see the issue. The doctor came in to give us our results and thankfully, I was able to slow him down with the type of questions and reasons that brought us in to begin with. He made sure the assistant gave us our school notes and we were on our way. I understand efficiency but at no point should we have been rushed throughout our meeting with either professional especially since we were there an hour and half after their opening time with literally no wait. I was disappointed when leaving but glad we tested negative. I’m committed to keep my family and other families safe by simply getting tested and staying home when we are sick. I would think that medical professionals would at the very least appreciate that and take the extra 5 minutes to show some empathy. I won’t forget the NP’s name, Hilary and won’t be having her serve us in the future. After every visit from UNC, a survey is sent to my phone or email. After I completely the survey, a representative was supposed to get in touch with me. Since I haven’t been contacted by anyone, this Google review will do. I gave 3 stars because the front desk is always pleasant when we come in. Keep up the good...
Read moreI went to the UNC Urgent Care in Holly Springs for ear wax removal. The individual who helped me was rushing, did not use any softening drops and proceeded to take a tool to my ear which caused me a great amount of pain at the time of the visit which I expressed to her but she continued. While crying and wincing, she continued to scrape telling me to hold on and then she irrigated. After flushing my ear, she scraped again.
Immediately after the appointment, I was in a lot of pain. The next morning I had lost complete hearing in my right ear.
On Friday, two days after my appointment, I went to Avance Care in Fuquay Varina and they took such great care of me. The nurse at Avance checked my ears and was gentle to the pain I was in. After looking, she immediately had a shocked look on her face. The doctor immediately came in and looked at my right ear, where the previous individual at UNC Urgent Care attempted to remove the wax, and I had two open wounds that were actively bleeding, my ear canal had filled with blood, and the majority of the wax was still blocking my ear drum.
I have left a voice message for the office manager with no response. I would not recommend going here for any help. I came to receive help with a small issue that caused me a little discomfort and left with ear damage, pain and the inability to hear. The copay was $100, the medication to resolve this issue caused by the medical care provider at UNC Urgent Care has cost me $80 and I will possibly have to see an ENT if my ear does not heal properly. I felt that UNC was a place that I could trust to receive help. I no longer feel comfortable there nor have any respect for that Urgent Care. I am disappointed.
Follow up:
I would never recommend going to this institution. Both of the individuals I spoke with disrespectful and rude. Following up on the situation discussed in my previous review, which is no longer available, the Officer Manager contacted me after speaking with the Nurse Practitioner first before contacting me. She made excuses for the Nurse Practitioner and caused many frustrations.
The office manager explained to me that when she spoke to the Nurse Practitioner, that this individual had a different story than the one I told. Of course she would have a different story. People have difficulties expressing sympathies when they have made a mistake. Especially when it comes to their reputation at work.
She did not know what she was doing related to Ear Wax Removal and I stand by the fact that she damaged my ear canal due to the bleeding. The Nurse Practitioner told me to wait two weeks. Who can go two weeks with complete loss of their hearing?
The Office Manager dismissed my concerns to avoid malpractice claims and both the Office Manager and Nurse Practitioner spoke prior to the conversation we had to get their stories straight.
I hope that somebody reads this review prior to going and goes to Avance Care in Fuquay Varina where they have immaculate care and provide unlimited support. I would not risk my health going to this...
Read moreI have come here before and always had a good experience, but today was much much different. I came in and scheduled an appointment online to be seen so I could get tested for COVID.
I first called my primary care, which is in the same building, but they don’t do testing. I asked my primary, when they told me to go to urgent care, if I could go get tested without a provider referral and they told me yes.
When I entered and checked in at 11AM on Christmas Eve, the lady that was closest to the door checked me in and asked me why I was there. I told her I had a possible exposure to COVID and that I was having mild symptoms and I wanted to get tested. She immediately just had a complete attitude and was not helpful at all! She told me in a very condescending tone that she couldn’t guarantee that I would be tested. She said I could be charged the urgent care fee and still not be tested because it was all up to the doctor. I then asked her how much the fee was and she said “I don’t know, it’s separate from us”..... she was extremely rude, unhelpful and just horrific demeanor.
When you are going somewhere asking for help you expect people to have some damn compassion! This lady should get a job as a prison guard, not at a healthcare facility!!! Someone needs to speak with this lady and teach her a thing or two about customer service and just common decency!! It’s amazing how some people still have jobs when they are completely terrible at them!
So, long story short, if you have anything to do with COVID, don’t go there, oh unless your traveling! When I went in there was a person that sounded like they had NOOOO problem getting tested to travel! If you possibly have the virus though, they treat you like a leper and want you to spread it more by searching for a place...
