For the normal movie experience, I would recommend this theater, however for the IMAX experience I would strongly recommend going somewhere else. The overall quality of this theaters experience has gone down a bit over the last 9 months.
The IMAX theaterâs experience is far from the âLuxuryâ feel they want you to associate with their brand. The seats are not the same luxury seats as the rest of the theater and are frankly hot and uncomfortable. Both my friend and I experienced this and heard many people telling the staff as much on their way out. The audio, especially the bass is not tuned correctly; when a strong bass sound occurs, it can create wobbles in screen that cause the picture to look distorted. This occurred more than once and had a way of disrupting your experience so that you had to refocus on the movie and not what has happening in the theater itself. The ceiling tiles are not fastened down well enough as they make a creaking sound when a bass beat happens. It is very distracting and I found myself and others looking up at the ceiling trying to figure out what the sound was. AC was not set high enough and people were taking off layers of clothing because of the heat. Cup holders and food trays are a fair bit smaller than would be expected. The larger soda cups feel unstable and a bit wobbly in the cup holders. The theater serves food in trays that are larger than the try holder at each seat so it feels like your food could land in your lap at any moment.
When I tried to talk to the manager about the issues with the IMAX Theater I was told âThe IMAX Guyâ said it was all perfect in the theater and was summarily brushed off. Later the same weekend I saw the same movie in a regular non-IMAX experience at Galaxy in Gig Harbor, I tried to talk to the manager then and was told that the only way to get feedback up the chain was speak to the general manager directly or to post it on Yelp as the company watches it daily. I asked about comment cards and was told there was none, and that there was no customer comment email adder either, if I was told the truth then consider me dumbfounded, the idea that a company whose job is about providing customer experience has such limited ways of providing feedback on that experience seems like an oversight at best.
This weekend I have notice that the theaterâs Frying machine in the adult beverage area does not cook well enough, both times I went it produced lukewarm fried food that has me sort of worried it is not cooking items well enough.
Taking into account the new IMAX theater separately from the rest of the theater as Iâm sure it will take some time to work out the bugs. They may need replace the seats as they are very uncomfortable and it was clear from listening to other coming out of the theater that a large number of people thought so as well. Overall since this is a smaller IMAX screen the sound quality is the main difference not the picture quality, I can say for sure that difference is sound between IMAX and non-IMAX was more noticeable than picture quality. I would say that given the smaller size IMAX screen and the uncomfortable chairs the overall experience is not worth the price to see a movie in this at this time.
The quality of service from management seems to be going downhill. The fact that the food fryer at the adult beverage stand is not cooking food well has made me rethink my normal concession stand treats.
Even with these problems the theater still seems like the best quality movie going experience on the Kitsap Peninsula...
Read moreWhen movie theaters are struggling to survive, Galaxy Theater, themselves, furnished the last nail to their own coffin â°ď¸. It is one thing to pay $20.00 per ticket, I understand that prices have to go up somewhere, but to gouge the customers at the concession stand is totally outrageous and unethical to boot. For 2 soft drinks and a large popcorn, it cost me $29.50. Throw in the price of 2 tickets, and I spent $70.00 to see King Kong and Godzilla đ˛ kick some butt. My date and I saw the 3-D version, which was pretty cool đ. Seating was great and comfortable, and they even had a little table big enough to hold the 1 litter of soda that cost me $10.00 each and the large popcorn, also $10.00. But what really fried my eggs was the fact that when we arrived at the theater, no one was around. No one was there to greet us, sell us a ticket, nothing. Even the concession stand was vacant. I had to yell to see if anyone was working there. When I did, a minute or so later, a guy comes up behind the concession stand and stared at me. I ask him, "Is there anyone working the ticket booth?" He replies, "She is." And points to a woman walking to the ticket area behind my back. My date follows her to buy the tickets and I order my drinks and popcorn. The guy tells me that I have to buy a ticket first. I turn and point to my date and I tell the guy, "I am!" Again, he just stares at me and slowly gets my order. What a place. I could have just walked in and saw a movie without paying because these people half expect you to go to a ticket machine and buy a ticket. Whereby you can pretend to buy your ticket and you just walk in. But because I'm honest and I need the 3-D glasses, I spent $70.00 at the movies. This is a good reason to wait until the movie comes out in DVD. This way, I can sit in the comfort of my own home, eating my own popcorn đż đ and drinking my own drinks and I can watch the movie đŹ over and over again and it only cost me $20.00 bucks. Way to go Galaxy Theater. Putting it real for the public when money is tight for everyone. Lack of service, high prices, and just plain stupidity. See you on the late late show of " Remember when you use to go to the movies and...
Read more*TLDR: Do NOT buy their wine, bring your own drinks and snacks, youâll be better off and with significantly more $$ in your pocket. Screens have marks and lines which are terrible in movies with bright scenes - visibly dirty or damaged. *
Went to watch Aladdin later at night so we could avoid the probable wave of children attending.
Popcorn was so/so as always, not surprised there (explains their options for additional seasoning with the flavoring/salt stations to the side).
Seats were fine, relatively easy to adjust even with the amount of pressure necessary to actuate the buttons being mildly annoying.
Ordered tickets online to reserve seats, pickup for those was super straightforward and easy.
Where the 2 Stars originate are the âbarâ for their âLuxuryâ Theatre. $9 for a âglassâ of wine where the rounded glass was filled less than 2 inches.
So first off weâre feeling a little cut short on the amount of wine we were given for $9 (a bottle of this wine is $11 - so even accounting for liquor licenses and profit margins, 2 inches of wine in a 4 inch diameter glass is robbery).
THEN the wine (which we had drank the night before) tasted WILDLY different. It had obviously been open and left sitting for at least a few days. It didnât even taste like the original wine it was so oxidized and stale. Could not even drink it, just disgusting and laughable that we paid $9 to drink it.
Normally not one to write reviews - just had to leave a comment for anyone looking to grab food or snacks from this place - recommend getting snacks and bringing your own drinks if possible in the future. Do NOT pay for their drinks (most specifically their wine), not only due to their price and the lack of value added, but for the horrid quality compared to such cheap wines.
We were in Theater 1 - during any part of the movie with a white backdrop you could visibly see in the top left hand corner there were either creases or marks on the display which the movie was projected onto, oversight for a âluxuryâ...
