Last night we decided to order take out from LeLe as it came highly recommended to us by our friends with whom we are visiting in Gig Harbor. They had been long devoted customers of this restaurant since it opened. Being Thai food lovers ourselves it was an easy decision! Upon closely finishing our meals one of our friends discovered a wadded up, sauce soaked paper towel at the bottom of his take out container. All of us couldn't wrap our minds around how a full sized paper towel made its way into his to-go container or stomach the thought of what it might have been used for prior to it being mixed in with his food. It made all of our stomachs queasy and none of us took another bite of any of our meals. Our friend called LeLe to kindly let them know what had happened and to request a refund for that specific dish. The owner requested a photo for proof, which was sent, and upon receiving it immediately became hostile. She denied that her establishment could ever make a mistake like that and placed the blame on someone in our group for putting the paper towel in the food. She then hung up on our friend without giving her an opportunity to respond. Our friend said she had never been talked to so rudely and disrespectful from anyone in the restaurant industry before and was beyond shocked by her response and treatment. The guy in the group, who was the one that had the paper towel in his food, called and spoke to the same woman, the owner. When the call ended he said that he wouldn't stand to be talked to like that and took his container with the paper towel back to the restaurant. He was met with the same hostile response by the owner at the restaurant that our friend and he had experienced over the phone. They refused to take accountability, apologize, and make their mistake right. We don't live in the area and can't deter others from going to this restaurant, so we hope this review will. Please note that in the owner's responses to other reviewers the blame is placed on the customer for not taking any action after a bad experience. We took action after our bad experience and were only met with hostility and blame. Don't support a restaurant that treats customers like this no matter how good you might think the food is! We already have enough hate...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to stop by and give Lele's a try after our movie. We first opted to call in and place an order to go, and were put on hold, after 4 minutes of hearing conversations, my husband and I assumed they forgot about us and just decided to go in and eat since we were in the parking lot already. When we got there it wasn't too busy, but we did stand there awkwardly for a few minutes because no one was at the podium to greet us, then a girl came up and at first I thought we were blocking the exit, but then she asked if it was just the 2 of us. We were sat at the 1st table by the door which is fine and then she brought us waters. Our server came over a little bit later and honestly it was just an awkward exchange, we weren't offered anything other than waters, we placed our order, barbecue roasted duck soup & Asaparagus rice dish with beef. Then we waited for about 45 minutes before our waitress came over and told us the kitchen was running a bit behind because they had 3- 6tops come in at the same time and our food should be out shortly. We're pretty patient. The food came out and was yummy ( no pictures because we just dug in.) The wait staff was very attentive during our meal which was nice, but also hard trying to answer between mouth fulls. We got a couple of boxes to take our left overs home, and then asked about the fried banana dessert she said unfortunately they don't have that anymore and the only dessert they had was mango sticky rice. Sounds interesting so we tried it. It was half a mango peeled and cut into huge slices, a rectangle slab of sticky rice dyed green , and a ramakin of coconut cream sauce. It was bland with the exception on the coconut cream sauce. Overall, our experience was awkward, long, and a bit of a let down. After 2 hours we were ready to go and sat waiting for someone to collect the bill, but after 5 minutes we just put cash in and left. The food is decent, the waitstaff is awkward & slow, but nice. Sad to say this seems to be the norm now-a-days, and leads us to one and done a lot of places. We love to support local when we can, but we can't always afford too, we work hard for our money, and expect a certain level of service when we go out and spend a pretty penny, but unfortunately it seems to be harder and harder to find places that uphold that...
