Lorien Bridal Boutique is honestly such an amazing place to shop for a wedding gown. Amanda, the owner, is so great at her job and you can tell she genuinely loves doing it. I was first drawn to Lorien because it was a small business that catered to a whimsical and alternative kind of bride who wasn't just one shape. So if that's what you are GO HERE! I had no interest in going to a trendy place BHLDN or some big store chain like David's Bridal so I did some research into smaller, boutique shops. When I found Lorien it looked like such a fun shopping experience. I was able to reach out to Amanda and book an appointment pretty quickly. When I arrived she asked me several questions about what I was looking for and what my budget was and even though I had several ideas of what I wanted I wasn't really that sure yet. I really wanted to try on all of the styles and boy did I. She invited me to look through the collection of dresses she had on the floor while she went to work to find ones that she thought I might like based on what I told her. I tried on so many BEAUTIFUL dresses and got to share them with my mom and future mother-in-law. Amanda could immediately pick up on which dresses were more of my style and brought out a different dress that was almost exactly what I wanted. I was so appreciative of her ability to notice and narrow things down from what I liked and what I loved. I didn't make a decision on that trip because I was so overwhelmed by how many amazing options there were. But I made a follow up appointment with her and had two dresses in mind. On my second trip there I told her what I wanted and I tried my fave dresses on again. I wanted to see if it was possible to take the neckline of one and basically put it on the gown of the other and it seemed like we could maybe make that work but then she remembered she had just gotten a brand new dress that day that might work for what I wanted. I tried it on and loved it. I couldn't believe it. I still ended up doing an alteration to deepen the neckline a little bit more, but it is so stunning. I can't wait to see it when it get there. All the dresses I tried on were beautiful. It made me wish I could wear wedding dresses for more than one occasion.
TL;DR Amanda of Lorien Bridal is great. She makes magic happen. This is definitely a place for a fun, whimsical, down to earth brides. Beautiful dresses of all styles and so many colors! PS none of these pictures are of the...
Read moreThe perfect place for a sword-fighting bride to find her dress! Amanda, the owner, really nails it. The themed décor is adorable but un-fussy, and the try-on space was comfortable for my party of four advisors. The selection of dresses is relatively small, but very well-curated, with a wide variety of styles represented, each with something special or unusual. Plus, she makes a point of stocking an extended range of sample sizes, which is very important for voluptuous ladies like myself, and one of the reasons I chose Lorien.
Due to the pandemic and other factors, I was on a tight timeline, so Amanda had me first peruse the racks and pick out several favorites, then checked before I started trying them on, to see which of them she could actually get soon enough. âI donât want you to fall in love with something, and then we find out we canât get it for you,â she explained. This proved to be characteristic of her practical and creative approach. She pulled alternatives for any of the choices that couldnât be ready in time, and I ended up trying on five options. Amanda made astute comments and suggestions, including trying various overskirts, belts, and sleeve options with different dresses, to adjust the look in one direction or another. My favorite had a couple of major drawbacks (a plunging V-neck and skinny spaghetti straps that looked ridiculous atop the elegant Edwardian sweep of the dress), but Amanda suggested ordering an extra set of the appliques that were on the dress, which could be used to create more coverage in certain areas. That sold me on it, and the seamstress I went to later on told me ordering the extra appliques was genius and she wished all her brides would do the same! (Lorien does not currently do in-house alterations, but that was fine with me, as I donât live nearby, and wanted to find someone closer to home so as to make fittings more convenient.) I gave Amanda full credit for the idea. My seamstress was able to use the appliques to replace the stupid straps with cap sleeves, and I made myself a head piece out of some of the others.
Overall, Lorien exactly suited my personality, and I would recommend it to any bride who wants a warm, friendly place with a fun and...
Read moreI went to this shop, first because of the amazing reviews, and also because my fiancĂ© loves lord of the rings. Also because she stayed open and worked with my schedule! I had already been to three different shops, so I had an idea of what I wanted. My biggest issue with shopping so far was that I wasnât happy with my body(itâs the Covid-19 lbs) in anything. I told this to Amanda and she knew exactly what I would like and what would flatter me. Before we arrived she had already viewed my venue online, so she also knew what would work with my weddingâs style!First we walked around the shop and she let me pull dresses of her racks. There were so many gorgeous dresses that I had to stop myself at nine! The shop is very Covid safe and we were the only ones in the store. The dressing rooms were clean, large and Amanda was very helpful when I was putting my gowns on. With every dress I tried on she took mental note of what I liked and what my bride tribe liked as well. From there she would give advice on what dresses I didnât need to try on, or what she wanted me to wear next. Honestly, every single dress I tried on was gorgeous and I would have been happy with any! I ended up finding a dress I absolutely loved. She added to the experience by sprinkling in some exciting things at the very end (that I donât want to spoil for you!).
Now the shop is nerdy themed which I absolutely loved! I chose the Harry Potter room to try dresses on. But there was a Star Wars room, Disney princess room, and more. Each room was stylishly designed and very tasteful! Also, I had my bridesmaid with me who was not big in the nerdy theme, but still thought the shop was adorable. I could go on and on and on about Amanda, but just know she is so sweet, helpful, intuitive and knowledgeable! She really has a passion for bridal gowns and accessories. I am so so thankful for her. She was also patient with me even though I was at the shop for THREE HOURS!
