Drove from Cupertino to Los Angeles yesterday. This morning, I decided to check out the supercharger station at Glendale that is 13 miles away from Arcadia where I was staying. Morning commute traffic was terrible. Took me more than 30 minutes to get to the Americana Complex. On arrival, I looked for Tesla charging station signs and directions. There were none. At the lowest level of the parking structure, I saw Tesla superchargers but already have like 8-9 teslas parked there. Worse, the whole area was roped off. No way to go in to check it out further. So disappointed and MAD. Why no instructions / info? It wasn't until I decided to write a review in the evening that I saw the information here...that the charging stations are up at the 6th or 7th floor! Really wonder why Tesla took the expense and trouble to install superchargers there but leave zero info / signs / directions so customers can have a good experience with the charging locations and facilities.
Tesla should consider to provide better access info on Supercharging stations within the location map in the car. A little more efforts will go a long way. I hope my (bad) experience here will help others when they visit LA /...
Read moreTesla Superchargers located in garages are a lil' more challenging to locate for me. This one was on the top floor; just when I thought I couldn't find it and was turning around, there they were. You have to take a ticket to go in and there is signage, but not all the way there.
It was well worth the trip though, because it's located on the top floor of a shopping garage and you can see LA from there! There were plenty of nice stores and restaurants nearby and the area is quite lively. I used the restroom in The Cheesecake Factory, and left with a cheesecake. By the time I was done charging, the parking only came to $2. There are lots of Security personnel around, with the nicest uniforms with hats protecting them from that LA sun. The ticket machine I tried to use was broken and Security helped me locate another and report the broken one.
All in all, great location! I was worried for just a second but it all worked...
Read moreI do not recommend this place unless you need to go shopping. The price is the lowest I could find, which is good, but you have to pay parking $5 for the first hour and an additional $2 for each 15 or 30 minutes or so. I think this is why their prices are low to compensate the parking fees, which is appreciative.
However, their chargers are very slow. It shows 75 kWh max on Tesla app, but I was getting 40 kWh for the entire duration of my charge. Took me 1 hour and 40 minutes to charge 59 kWh.
Again, if you need to shop, this probably is the best charging station as it's cheap and you could get parking validated from some of the shops or restaurants, but if not, I'd go to the one on Harvey, which is faster and no...
