Our service was good. But Our 4th appetizer came out after our paella. Everything tasted good but The tappa's were very small. 3 of us ate there and shared 4 tappa's and paella. The menu isn't terribley high priced but it adds up when you only get 2 bites per plate I know tappa's are supposed to be small plates but come on. The brussel sprouts were barely the size of a veggie side at the ol Miner and for what you pay for what you get its tasty but I don't think I'll be back. I like the idea how it's meant to be shared but If you go with more than 2 just know your ticket will add up because if there's 3 of you you get like 2 bites per tappa and I wasn't impressed with the paella the rice was undercooked and the mussels were small and kind of dry and you only get 3 shrimp (we each had 1 shrimp) with the shell still on, all the flavor was outside the shell. The rice to meat ratio was disappointing. I'd rather go somewhere and spend a little more to get enough food and share it with my friends than spend $12 / tappa and leave hungry. They also have this no seafood togo policy. I tried to bring food home for my friend who wasn't there who wanted to try the mussels and the waiter said no, it probably would have sat in the window longer than it would have taken to get it home and what I brought him was just so tiny. The cheese board was laughably small. Again I know tappa's are small but if you want dinner go somewhere they serve you a meal. If you want a snack while you drink then this might be the...
Read moreWanted this place to be good because Gunnison needs more good restaurants. However, it is a major disappointment. We were with friends who had eaten here prior, and they were disappointed to learn that the dishes they had the first time had been altered to use lower quality ingredients. Cocktails were so-so and took forever to arrive. We actually canceled our second round because it seemed they had no intention of delivering it. Service was really slow in general and frankly not very friendly. I suggest before you come here you read the reviews from people who don't have an obvious personal connection to the owners. Every glowing review is from someone who is obviously friends with the owners and thus biased. I hate to leave negative reviews for any local business in the valley but this place is just not up to snuff at a price point that is way too high for the ambiance and experience. It's like Twisted Fork minus the good food and service. Hopefully they make the necessary staff adjustments and menu adjustments to survive, but at this price point Blackstock Bistro will actually meet your expectations so go there....
Read moreThe food is good and vibe is somewhat modern. We shared the sliders and flatbread. Both were excellent and plenty to make a meal of. Service we received was inattentive, but others were getting great service. I was greatly ignored especially when seated in a spot directly with the sun in my face. I tolerated it but it really got irritating when our server figured it out when I was done eating and then pulled a shade. It seemed like sun hitting this spot would happen everyday and should have been something they watched for and pulled the blind everyday. Again felt like we were ignored. Maybe she was blinded by the light? We finished with the cheesecake and chocolate pot. Honestly thought they were not great and over priced. Cheesecake seemed to be more of a cake than cheesecake and flavor was off almost. The chocolate pot was chocolate with dried crunch bread slivers. Just seemed like nothing special. Overall, was not a horrible experience so I'll rate at 4 stars. It i was in a more cranky mood it would be much less. But, I've tried to look past the...
