Sportsman's Warehouse — Local services in Heber

Just had a terrible experience buying two guns at the Heber Store in Utah! Between the two guns, we were spending over $5,500! We will NEVER buy ANYTHING from Sportsmans again. Over the years we have spent tens of thousands of dollars at Sportsmans. Last week we purchased two guns through their website and had delivered to our local store in Heber, UT.

When we went to pick them up, we were baited/confused into making the purchase look like a straw sale because the name on the "bill to" that came through from the website was different than my name which was also entered on the website at the time I made the purchase. In short, the "bill to" name came through with the paperwork in the store rather than the rest of the purchase info that I entered online.

Rather than explaining or clarifying what needed to be done to receive the guns properly, the manager at the gun counter partially processed the background check [intentionally], and then at a certain point stopped and told us that she would not sale us the guns because the purchase now looked like a straw sale. All of this, even though both people listed on the purchase were present and both of us have current concealed carry permits indicating that we are both perfectly legal to purchase any gun sold at their store.

What's worse, we were then told we were being put on a watch list and that not only could we not purchase the guns that we ALREADY PAID FOR, but we also could not purchase any other guns from Sportsmans.

We were treated like criminals instead of valued customers. We've probably spent more than $10,000 at Sportsmans over the last several years. We'll never buy from Sportsmans again!!!

This could have all be avoided with a little common sense, customer service and a simple clarification. From here forward, I will do everything I can to prevent others from being treated this way. Sportsmans just lost a loyal customer, and a...

Very disappointed with my experience! I have been a regular customer at this sportsman warehouse for years as it is convenient located along my commute to and from work.

Today on my drive home I came in to purchase a gun I have been wanting to buy for a long time. Me a my friend were looking at the different colors in the gun I wanted and I asked my friend which one he liked more. Everything seemed to be going fine and I decided on a specific color. On a side note I had recently moved so my physical drivers license did not reflect my current address which I had forgotten about luckily there is a drivers license division close by so I left to run over and get everything changed and a new drivers license.

As we returned to the store we went directly back to the gun counter to purchase the firearm. Once we got back there we were pulled aside and been told we were being denied the purchase of the firearm. They had blatantly assumed I was trying to buy my friend the firearm which was not true not even in the slightest and they didn’t even let me explain myself. Even though we technically are both legally allowed to own a gun as my friend has purchased many of his own firearms elsewhere. All because of a conversation where I asked my friend which one he liked best and him jokingly saying I should buy him one, in which during that conversation I told him to buy his own and all this being said directly in front of the sales representative. they a assumed I was trying to make a straw purchase which was very far from the truth. But I was given no chance to explain.

I know this seems an extreme response but I honestly had never felt so disrespected in my life! I was doing everything legally and lawfully.

I will not be stopping by anymore and I don’t recommend purchasing at least a firearm...

I just had the best experience with this store!! I contacted SW to assist me with a purchase and was expecting them to tell me what I needed was not available/possible. Instead I had the pleasure of speaking with an employee named Ryan. Ryan went ABOVE and BEYOND to assist me. She was knowledgeable, prompt and friendly. I called on a Sunday night at 5:59pm not knowing the store hours and I did not need immediate attention. Ryan did not rush me but did take down my phone number assuring me she would call when she started work the following day. Well she was true to her word and had figured out a way to assist me with my purchase- timely and incredible! In a day and age where it feels like no one cares about hospitality this employee made me feel like she truly cared- and she did! She shipped out my order and I am beyond thrilled. I will be making sure that my family gives more business to SW in the future as Ryan showed that they truly care about customer service. Thanks...
