I was excited to see that Mariana's was coming to Henderson. I have been there twice. The first visit was great without any disappointment. My second visit just opened my eyes to deceit and lies. I usually go to Mariana's for their weekly sale on the fruits and vegetables. As I am choosing my produce I am weighing it to make sure that I have the amount that I can afford. Like everyone else I am on a budget and I have to go where the sales are at so that is why I shop here. When I get to the counter to pay I am estimating that I shouldn't have to pay more than $12 and my bill was $22. I began to look over my receipt on the screen before I paid in the self check out lane and I noticed that the produce that I bought was weighed and a completely different weight than what I weighed it at in the produce department. I notified the lady that was working in the self check out lanes and she advised me that the scales are in KILOS!!!! So when you weigh something at any other store the big numbers on the scale are the pounds so that is what everyone is looking at. However at Mariana's the big numbers on the scale are kilos. There is no sign anywhere around the scales that inform the clients of this. The nice lady helping me stated that she gets so many complaints about this because its unfair when you go to pay and its not what you thought you had weighed in the produce department. She called over the manager and she just looked at me and smiled while saying that its under kilos not pounds and totally blew me off. I see it as a way of tricking the clients into thinking that they have an amount that they can afford and when they get to the counter to pay its a lot more than what they chose. At that point what are you going to do??? You can't unbag all the produce at that moment because you are already on your way out. This is the USA, NOBODY cares about kilos here and every grocery store weighs the produce by the pound not kilo. When you go to all the other Hispanic markets like El Super, Marketon, Cardenas and La Bonita they have their scales by the pound like they should. You are lying to your clients and causing confusion and misinformation for them. It's very wrong what you are doing...
Read moreIâm very upset with Marianaâs. Sunday 6/29 around 5-6pm, I bought a tres leches cake for my daughterâs birthday. When we opened it that same night around 10pm, the strawberries on top were moldy. It broke my heart to see how sad and disappointed she was on her special day. A birthday cake should never come with spoiled fruit.
This is unacceptable, and Marianaâs needs to do a much better job checking the freshness of their cakes and ingredients. The bakery employee handed us the cake from the cake display and didnât catch it. The cashier peeled the bakery sticker off the cake lid and didnât catch it. We failed to see the mold through the plastic lid at the time of purchase.
I went back the following day after work and they refused to issue a refund to my debit card because I didnât have the receipt. I had the debit card I used for the purchase , proof of purchase on the Chase app and I used my phone number that is tied to their âloyalty /rewardsâ program. Genny the store supervisor said he can only offer a gift card. I asked him to escalate the request to a store manager. He called Esse Torres that also refused to refund the purchase to the original payment method (debit card). Genny offered me to return the following day to speak with Esse in person. I refused. I wasnât willing to waste additional time and gas for their negligence.
At the end, I left with a gift card for the amount of the purchase. I didnât want to waste more time with them. They had already wasted my time twice and ruined my daughterâs birthday.
Genny said he didnât understand how it happened because bakery employees should be checking dates. The bakery sticker had June 29th. When I went to return the cake, there was another family buying the same cake, I told them to check their cake for mold. Their bakery sticker had July 5th.
Marianaâs failed and didnât express any sympathy for their employees negligence. My daughter doesnât get a do over on her birthday. Do better Marianaâs!
I will provide pictures as evidence. Marianaâs is welcome to contact me for...
