I hate having to tag this to just this store, but no way I can see to review costco in general. This store also is who told me couldn't do Tax Exempt (see below)
I ordered online today for the 1st time after already spending an abundance in the store. Got an email confirming my order at 1255p. Then at 350p an email was sent canceling my order. I did not see this until 520p . I called in and asked why my order was canceled. I was told it was flagged as possible fraud since I have just opened my account in November. Well duh the store just opened by me. So I'm mad because the item is no longer in stock by the time they cancel my order. They told me they have a fraud dept that just hits the cancel button, but no call, email or anything sent to me. They literally said that is their policy to cancel suspected fraud orders, but they don't have a team to call or reach out. I said what an assinine policy. I have never heard of such a thing where a business thinks an account has been hacked and there is no notification besides cancelation of an order. Well yes sir, we expect the customer to call in and see why the order was canceled. I was on the phone for an hour and 2 minutes over a canceled order, that should have been that they called me to verify my info, not the opposite. After all of that NO compensation or care for the amount of time it took out of my day to have to call them for their 100% ASSININE policy. I think this policy needs to be reported to the Consumer Protection Agency or TN AG. This is a business that is not protecting their customers. What if this really was fraudulent. I would really never known anything unless "I" contacted Costco. Unreal!!! If Costco cares the reference # is 231201-045931. I'll be looking forward to you reaching out to me.
Oh on top of all of that they won't accept my AG Tax exempt at costco. They don't recognize the agriculture tax exempt that is only you know given out by the State of TN, but hey they, it seems, make up their own stupid policies! Sam's Club recognizes it. I'll be continuing Most of my shopping at Sam's. They don't have goofy lil shipping cost like Costco has on some of their items AND MOST OF ALL THEY DONT HAVE THE DUMBEST POLICIES l HAVE EVER HEARD OF. Oh and they have scan...
Read moreThis is our 3rd time at costco and i am just not impressed. Actually, it's worse than that. The store is downright annoying to shop at. There are four main problems
They sell out of things and don't restock them. So if you like something, you can't get it again. It's like going to the dollar tree, Ollie's or big lots, where they sometimes just sell whatever they can get their hands on. The first time we went, we bought kirkland dried Mango and dried shitake mushroom chips. We really liked them both. The second time, the mushroom chips were gone and have not restocked since. Now this time the mangos are also gone. These are the types of things that are staples in our house and the reason why i signed up for membership in the first place. They move nearly everything, every week. Just ask them, they'll tell you. The companies pay for various spots, so the employees shuffle almost everything in the store weekly. That means you can't find ANYTHING you're looking for. And it's not like walmart, where the app/website tells you where things are. So you have to wander this ginormous warehouse and just hope you stumble upon what you're looking for. They've got hoses, soil, and doritos next to the produce. Does this placement make ANY logical sense when you're looking for things? No. It doesn't. We aren't browsers. We have a list. We get in and get out. You can't do this there. Because they move stuff every week, the employs ALSO don't know where anything is. I asked FOUR employees where something was. Not ONE of them knew. One employee, with an ipad, was able to tell me they had 80 in stock, but not where they were located. No scan and go.
All of these things add up to an unpleasant shopping experience. We love going to Sam's. The kids beg to be taken on our trips there. Tonight, i stayed home with the kids while my SO ran to Costco because my kids actually refused to go. Even the kids aren't impressed. I won't be renewing my membership when...
Read moreCan't find an employee to help.. unless you try to leave without a receipt. Receipt got lost on the way to the doors juggling product without shopping bags.. got treated like a criminal. Perp-walked back to the register, where the employee that actually scanned all my items without my consent SAID she checked me out.. I was forced to stand outside their office while a manager went through their system to find my checkout. 10 minutes later they found it and decided I wasn't trying to steal $30 worth of product. Most incompetent management I've ever encountered, enforcing asinine policy like it's biblical.
Checkout process itself is just ignorant.. I go to self check so I dont have to interact with people, where an employee rushes up and starts handling my goods without my consent.. and implicitly doesn't want you to set items in the checkout area... this is simply aggravating when you don't even have grocery bags to keep things sorted. Sam's has had scan and go for years.. massive improvement in customer experience that costco is 100% against. And if you go at a busy time, just expect an unreasonable wait to checkout.. not sure why they have so many registers they use for cart storage.
App and website won't tell you where an item is in store. Employees can't tell you where an item is in store. It's a huge Easter egg hunt that I didnt ask to play. Inventory management is a basic function. At least give me the aisle number..
They make a fuss about the cafe.. which DOES have decent service.. but no, the pizza and the hot dogs aren't as good as Sam's by a long shot.
I tried it for a year alongside my Sam's membership. Scan and Go alone are worth my time. This place is great to wander around, absolutely trash experience trying to spend money. I dread checkout. Every....
