Came here a couple of days ago. Love vintage, love the thrill of a thrift. However after looking through the selection I was incredibly disappointed by some of the items that were vetted through. SHEIN, H&M products littered the shelves next to sparse lovely interesting pieces. The high class aesthetic would have you believe something unique and exciting came to Hoboken but really it’s a peep into any Stevens student closet. It’s disheartening. With these products came laughable price tags. An item original sold for less than 3-5 dollars is on the rack for 10-35 dollars. The other reviews would have you believe they vet products donated to them with a good eye but really it’s all a ruse to upsell possibly some of the worst products on the market. On top of selling known brands with horrible reputations and poor quality, the donation process talked about in other reviews goes to show this is a plow by these owners to make as much money as possible with no care for the customer. There are a few interesting finds in this store, however, they are marked up higher than market value simply because of the convenience of not having to wait for your secondhand online seller to ship them to you. I will say my experience with the staff was incredibly nice, the place is down right beautiful I can’t deny. But the attempt the pull the wool over peoples eyes with the appearance of the store won’t fool much of anyone who actually is invested in the culture of second hand. If I do visit again I hope some improvements are made for the reputation of...
Read moreI stopped into this store to kill some time the other day and I was intrigued as I had never been there before. I won't be going back to buy or to sell.
Upon entering, I first saw 3 employees gathered towards the front of the store. I began to browse the clothes and was standing in front of this group of people for at least 10 minutes and not one of them acknowledged my presence. They were deep in conversation with each other about very important topics.
I then overheard an interaction between an employee and someone selling things to the store. The employee who was assisting this man told him to "Go get some Balenciaga". The guy tells him that he isn't familiar with that brand. The employee then compares Balenciaga to Chanel and Louis Vuitton (LOL) and proceeds to say "Go steal it off some white lady in the street and bring it back here and I'll give you $100 for it."
I found this comment to be wildly inappropriate. In what world is it ok to tell someone to go steal goods from someone else and sell it to the store???? So this implies that the store buys stolen goods from people and then sells them in their store.
Between being ignored and hearing this comment I will not be doing any buying or selling here. The employees were so rude and bothered. As someone who used to manage a retail boutique, this customer service was abhorrent and...
