Apartment Rental at Fairway Villa, Unit 1016 – IrinaMy family and I rented a studio apartment (Unit 1016) at Fairway Villa, 2345 Ala Wai Blvd, Honolulu, HI 96815, from Irina for a 7-night stay in Honolulu. The agreed rate was $150 per night, plus a $110 cleaning fee and a $200 refundable deposit. Overall, the apartment was clean, well-located, and suited our needs for a family vacation. The check-in process was smooth, and the space was comfortable for our family of four. However, our experience was marred by a concerning incident on the third day of our stay. While my young child was in the bathroom, a heavy glass light fixture (plafond) fell from the ceiling without warning. Thankfully, no one was injured, though my younger daughter was nearby, and the fixture could have caused serious harm. I immediately notified Irina, expecting her to address the safety hazard, especially since similar fixtures are installed in the hallway. Unfortunately, her primary concern was whether we had damaged the fixture, rather than the potential danger to my family. She showed little empathy for the situation, which was disappointing.Upon checkout, Irina withheld $120 from our $200 deposit, claiming it was for the cost of the fallen fixture, despite the incident being due to a maintenance issue, not our fault. This felt unfair, as we had no control over the fixture’s failure, and her focus remained on the cost rather than ensuring guest safety. While the apartment itself was pleasant, Irina’s handling of this incident and the unjustified deposit deduction left a negative impression. I strongly urge the Fairway Villa management to investigate this matter, as Irina is renting this unit without apparent authorization, and the unsecured light fixtures pose a serious safety risk to guests. Please take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of future renters and address Irina’s unauthorized...
Read moreWonderful condo #2309! It had everything we needed for two people to spend a wonderful 10 days on the island of Oahu. It is a studio meaning everything is in the same room - queen sized bed, double sized futon (can fold out into an extra bed) fully stocked kitchen with full sized stove, refrigerator with ice maker, sink with disposal and everything necessary to cook meals. There were even new items left by previous guests that allowed us to make a nice pasta dinner on our first night. There is a tiny laundry room with an apartment sized washer/dryer. Bathroom has tub/shower combo, plenty of hot water and great water pressure. All linens were included and there were even beach chairs, umbrella and towels to use during our stay. The unit was tastefully decorated and updated. The view was phenomenal with views of the ocean at Waikiki Beach, the canal and the golf course. The building gives you access to the swimming pool and hot tub on the roof (great views of the Friday night fireworks show) as well as several gas grills. They really think of everything.
Within walking distance to dozens of restaurants in all price ranges and there is a Biki bike sharing stand steps away. There is a grocery store across the street and a Longs/CVS drug store 10 minutes away by walking. The ultimate was the free parking space assigned to the unit! It allowed us to be able to rent a car which gave us the opportunity to explore the entire island! Parking is insane in Honolulu. The space was small but we were able to easily park a Ford Explorer in it (the car rental gave us the old switcheroo at the airport). So very pleased to have been able to stay here and working with the owner/manager Budi was a pleasure. Would love to...
Read moreI would not recommend renting this building. The property does not feel secure, as there have been ongoing issues with mail and deliveries going missing, which creates an atmosphere of concern. Another challenge is the building’s pet policy. Animals are frequently present throughout the property, including in the elevators. While this may be allowed, it creates problems for those with allergies to fur and dander, and accidents in shared spaces sometimes leave behind unpleasant odors. Privacy can also be a concern. I recommend keeping your curtains closed, as drones from surrounding buildings are sometimes visible flying nearby, which can feel intrusive. Noise is another constant issue, with heavy traffic from Ala Wai Boulevard and the frequent slamming of doors from neighbors. Instead of a calm and welcoming atmosphere, the experience here often feels stressful and disruptive. With so many other apartment options in Waikiki, you are far better off looking elsewhere. Committing to a long-term lease here is not advisable, as the environment does not provide the comfort, safety, or privacy most people...
