It was my first time in Hawaii, and after almost a couple of days of sightseeing and exploring tourist destinations with my girlfriend, we decided to have a spontaneous spa/massage that was nearby. While looking around, we happened across Spa Passion and read the incredible reviews, and decided to go here. It was a 2 minute walk at the time.

Around 12:20pm, my girlfriend called, and immediately we were accommodated by Mariko for a 12:30pm appointment.

The building is right next to a restaurant/irish pub, and you go up to the 7th floor. The spa was small, however, it was still quite comfortable and quiet.

My girlfriend had availed of the 60 minutes couple massage, but Mariko recommended the 75 minutes, and even gave us a discount for it!

On to the massage, we were in a couple's room, which felt very comfortable. There was A/C inside the room which they offered to adjust if we preferred. Mariko handled my girlfriend, and I was handled by her coworker Miyako. Both were extremely professional and kind.

Mariko and Miyako had no problems accommodating to what you needed in terms of the massage. They asked for your preference of the pressures of the massage, and even asked if there were areas of preference for them to keep working on, which I thought was so thoughtful, as I had been dealing with a pretty tight back, and very sore shoulders. As the massage went on, I actually started falling asleep and snoring, talk about embarrassing! However, they actually found that funny, and were happy that they provided a very relaxing massage.

After the massage, we paid for our fees, and went our separate ways. My girlfriend and I had lunch at the mall across the spa, and as we were eating, I found out later that I had left my black bracelet in the basket, and we contacted Mariko immediately. She said that it was there, and my goodness, she even offered to return our bracelet, as she was heading to the mall as well anyway!

The kindness and compassion Mariko had was amazing. She was really generous and kind and sweet. She was very easy to talk to and was really accommodating. They were true to their 75 minute massage, and I have to tell you each minute was worth it.

My girlfriend and I would DEFINITELY come back to this massage after a long day's/weeks' trip from Hawaii.

the past two times i have been in hawaii i went to refle hawaii for a lomi lomi massage. this time though, they were booked, so i had to find somewhere else.

my wife went to aloha hands and i went to this establishment.

first, it is in an older building. there must be some security concerns because i had to wait for a while at the ground floor before somebody used a key to activate the elevator. the hallway to spa passion is very old and grimy. opening the door reveals two rows of massage tables which are separated by sheets.

immediately upon entering, i removed my shoes, japanese style.

the staff greeted me politely (btw they seem to all be japanese).

then it was on to the massage. the lomi lomi massage was very relaxing and i almost fell asleep. i must note that my particular masseuses’ hands were quite coarse, possibly from massaging for many years? conversely this means she is an expert and can give a good massage.

after the massage, i had a minor unpleasant surprise. i was told that i had also received a deep tissue massage, and that it would be an extra 15 dollars.

i paid it, but i was a bit perplexed because i thought that i had only requested a lomi lomi massage.

as for the the final bill, the base rate was $90 for 90 minutes. plus tax and tip it was $110. then i paid the $15 for the deep tissue portion for a total of $125.

i talked to my wife afterward about her massage at aloha hands and she said she was happy with her massage. she paid $110 for 90 minutes.

i was a bit jealous.

after this experience, i would probably go back to refle hawaii next time, just because it is cleaner and more private. you have to get the online coupon there to get a comparable...
