We stayed a night at this location on the way back from Atlanta. It was in a nice neighborhood, and was a very quiet location in the woods by a lake. The hotel looks to have undergone recent renovations, and it was a bit messy. There were paint cans and leftover food in the stairwell, and it looked like that area hadn't been cleaned since reno...I don't know if they plan to clean it up, but it was a mess. The rooms are quiet and big- we had a 2 bedroom suite with a small kitchen. The reno was a bit of a rush job- there were paint drips and crooked tiles in our room on the top floor. They left the existing cherry wood cabinets which were very traditional, but added gray paint and super modern furniture and lamps that didn't fit the feel of the property. It was a weird combination of old cabinets and countertops with gray paint slapped on the walls and tacky modern furniture. It all felt really cheap and a waste. I wish they had invested a little more into the redesign because the property has potential. Instead it comes off as cheap and thrown together. The ceiling are short as well- it felt under 8' on the top floor, giving to an overall sense of closed in- spaces. Overall the room was clean, and quiet, and the location itself is beautiful. The front desk staff wasn't overly friendly and seemed mad to be working...we had just come from 2 nights at the wonderful Homewood Suites in Duluth Georgia where everyone was super friendly and caring. The staff at Inverness location just didn't care, and it was a bit off-putting. Also wanted to mention someone there really loves Halloween...the whole lobby and breakfast area was decorated for Halloween, and not the cutesy fun stuff...they had a life-size killer clown and fake blood splattered everywhere...it was bizarre and not appropriate for families with young kids. The lobby and dining area itself were nice and quiet, but the Halloween decor was such a weird addition that it made the area feel uncomfortable. Overall this hotel is in a nice, quiet location and we didn't experience any problems per se, but the staff wasn't very friendly and the over-the-top Halloween decor was just weird. I think it's fine for a quick trip if you need a quiet place to stay, but I don't know that I would recommend this location for anyone wanting...
Read moreWife and I showed up to our room and the first thing we noticed was the smell in the room. When entering you enter through the kitchen and the floor around the dishwasher was destroyed due to the dishwasher leaking. We arrive late and decided to shower and go to bed. There was no water pressure. Difficult when the water just sprays enough to get the on ad off knob wet. Frustrated after splashing yourself with water we went to bed to find out there were no pillows so I called the front desk and ask for pillows and they said they would bring some. While waiting I thought I would watch tv to find out there is no remote to turn the tv on. Finally when they brought these old broken down pillows the wife and I went to bed. About midnight we get woken up by the front desk and asked if there were any cloths in the closet from the last guest? I asked them well wouldn’t housekeeping clean the room and find cloths in the closet? She answered, well sometimes they don’t do a 100%!! I was like WHAT??? Already frustrated with everything I hung the phone up and went to sleep. In the morning I wanted to make breakfast for the wife and I and the toaster didn’t work. At his point I am ready to leave this hotel but we booked it for three days. I decide to go talk to the front desk and see what they can do. Well it seems that the front desk was just as broken as my toaster as I politely explained the current condition of our stay. The lady that was standing behind the desk said there is nothing that she could do and went on to assist someone else. I love staying at Homewood suites. It normally allows us to be us and allows me to make breakfast for my wife because not everyone has the same taste for the food up front. This has been a terrible experience with this hotel. The outside of the hotel is very nice and it’s tucked back into a quiet setting. The inside is dated and the rooms are the smallest I have ever stayed in. They are a bit dated with stains all over the carpets everywhere. The room is not all that clean as it should be either. I would suggest that the supervisor be retrained and shown what right looks like. It apparent that the standards have slipped...
Read moreThe rooms were TOO SMALL, BUT the customer service was HORRIBLE! I booked our rooms a month ago and clearly asked if I could rent or use a room for a graduation celebration we were having for our youngest daughter. I was told that the one conference room was not available during our stay, but I can decorate and set up one of the tables in the lobby. I proceeded by booking a room for 3 adults in which I thought was a 1 bedroom suite, it ended up being a very small room with a small double bed and sleeper sofa. The room size was our first shock and disappointment. So I booked a 2nd room. Midday Saturday, I went to the lobby and decorated a four seater table with the graduation food, flowers and gifts. We later learned that there was a young girls soccer team staying in the hotel and they were using part of the dining area as well for a party for about 25 girls and some adults. They were using the entire portion of the front of the dining area, but running around everywhere talking as loudly as they could. We had one of the desk employees come over and ask were we having a party, who gave us permission, and how many people are we having. I explained to her that I inquired about this when I booked the room. She later had a manager come out and ask us what were we doing. I gave her the same information. She suggested that she just wanted to make sure we were in "compliance". Meanwhile this large group of children and adults continued to be as loud as they could and was walking in our area to see what we were doing. We never played music or made any uncomfortable noise, but when the large loud soccer group started to disburse, the staff continued to apologize to them and started offering them water, etc. The saddest part of this all is that this blatant disrespect and harassment came from African American staff that treated us as though we were inferior to the other guests and 5th class citizens. I WON'T BE STAYING THERE ANYMORE. I SUGGEST A NICE AIR BNB INSTEAD WHEN YOU ARE...
