Excellent folks to work with to get your diamond engagement ring. I simply cannot recommend Diamond Cutters International enough. Wonderful customer service and a great attention to detail. Prices are fair, advice is outstanding and the quality cannot be beat. I worked with Dee Doan to design both an engagement ring and wedding band. She provided excellent advice and worked very hard to get me exactly what I wanted. Perhaps my favorite part was that she was willing to talk me out of more expensive options. Meaning, whenever it made sense, she talked me into spending less. Love that! She truly has your best interest at heart and I trust her completely. One of the most satisfying customer service experiences I have ever had. Cannot recommend enough! There was a lot of cheese out there when diamond ring shopping. Lots of sleazy characters and people providing misinformation. Not here. These guys know their stuff. And the more you know, the more you'll benefit. But even if you know absolutely nothing about diamonds, you can trust Diamond Cutters International to get you exactly what you need (not more or less... but exactly what you need) and at a very fair price. Also, you don't need to be in the Houston area. We did everything via phone, e-mail and mail. We did mocks of the rings out of wax. We sent photos back and forth via e-mail. Anyway, I did everything via telephone, e-mail and FedEx with me in Chicago and Dee in Houston. Finally, I strongly suggest reading the book "How to Buy a Diamond, 7E: Insider Secrets for Getting Your Money's Worth" written by Fred Cuellar. Once you do that and educate yourself about the world of diamonds... then contact these folks to get exactly...

What a waste of time. I went to the offices in order to talk to someone about engagement rings. I had heard about this place quite a few times on the radio and really wanted check it out. I actually ended up meeting and talking to Fred, who is the founder and owner. I thought - Wow how luck am I! He was super nice, welcoming and I felt comfortable right away. Then he starting talking, and talking, and talking, and talking... At first I thought well- he is just a chatty kathy. No big deal. However, after about an hour and we had not even gotten to what I was looking for and any rings or designs, I realized this guy doesn’t really care about what I’m looking for— he is just looking for audience to brag and sell his “achievements” too. I learned more about his tv appearances, the two books he authored, his weight loss, his multiple “connections”, his broken hand, his other clients (who he took phone calls from while with me), and his gifts for his doctor wife - very little about rings and/or diamonds, which was the purpose of my visit. It was in the last ~15 mins of his 2+ hr promotion presentation that he finally brought out some molding, made a few recommendations — which I was not pleased with since he gave them without really listening to anything I was looking for. I came in feeling hopeful and excited and left feeling confused and disappointed at my wasted time. It seems like this is a great organization with a lot to offer. I really wish I talked though to someone else who could have really helped me with my needs. With a straight face, I could not recommend this place to anyone. But if you really want to try it— ask to talk to someone else...

I was able to learn what made a diamond quality versus one that was sub par (and more common) with my first meeting with Fred. He talks a big game and can seem somewhat overconfident in what he can offer, until he shows you his product! Seeing just some of Their selection was mind-blowing! He can cut build and create ANY ring you have in mind, and it will end up excellent, all at a price that was lower than I could find at any chain retailer! My wife is still getting compliments all the time on her ring. I know you think you can just get a diamond that has more sparkle or fire by spending more change, but believe me, it is worth the time to set an appointment with DCI, and see what a difference they can make with what ring you will end up with. One fair warning: I viewed their rings, and thought I could get by with a "clone" of what I wanted Fred to build for me from a chain store. Looking at the ring for a couple days, as any guy will do when he buys one, I noticed a few imperfections that began to eat at me, and honestly felt guilty for not getting the ring from DCI that I knew looked much, much better. I took my purchased one back, bought from Fred, and will be back to him without shopping from any other store for baby rings, anniversaries, Christmas gifts, and eventually a diamond for my Aggie ring. Highly, highly recommend his services....
