During a recent visit to JB Shoe Store in the Galleria Mall with my partner, we encountered a level of service that was far below expectations.
Upon entering the store, we approached a staff member to inquire about a specific type of shoe my partner was interested in. The associate, a young woman with straight hair, appeared disinterested in assisting us. Her only question was whether we were looking for men's or women's shoes, despite my partner's clear presentation. Without further engagement, she simply pointed to a wall behind her and said, "Over there," offering no additional help or guidance. This dismissive attitude set a negative tone for the rest of our visit.
Undeterred, we continued browsing and selected two pairs of New Balance shoesāone in size 11 and the other in 10.5. After a considerable wait, a Hispanic male staff member eventually brought out the shoes. However, the 10.5 pair was missing the left shoe. His response was a casual, "Oh, I guess it's out already," and he walked away without providing any further explanation. When he returned, I inquired about the other pair he had been holding, only to be told, "Oh, we don't have them." His lack of effort in resolving the issue or offering alternatives was disappointing.
Despite these challenges, my partner was satisfied with one of the pairs, so we proceeded to checkout. Unfortunately, the disorganization at the sales desk compounded our frustrations. The line was long, and the atmosphere behind the counter was chaotic, with staff members chatting among themselves. The two cashiers were doing their best to manage the line, but the disarray behind themāstacks of shoe boxes in no apparent orderācaused delays.
When it was finally our turn, the cashier greeted us with a smile and handled the transaction professionally. She offered to round up our total for a charitable donation, which we appreciated. However, the overall experience was marred by the inefficiency and lack of customer focus we encountered earlier.
While the cashier provided satisfactory service, the overall experience at JB Shoe Store was disappointing. The lack of assistance and attention to detail, combined with the disorganized checkout process, left us with little desire to return to this location. A two-star rating, largely due to the cashier's efforts, reflects our dissatisfaction with the service...

Visit date: July 12, 2024
I visited the JD store in Houston Gallery on July 12, 2024, around 12:30 PM, looking for a new pair of shoes. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. Upon entering the store, there were no employees available to assist me. Despite the store not being busy, no one greeted me or offered help on the sales floor.
After waiting for 15 minutes, I finally found an employee who seemed disinterested and had a poor attitude. When I asked to try on specific shoes, he brought me a different model. When I pointed out the mistake, he handed me a shoe from the display without even trying to find a new pair. He then insisted that I buy a cleaning product, which I repeatedly declined, yet he continued to pressure me. His persistent insistence made me feel mistreated and harassed. It was evident from his attitude that he was intentionally trying to make me uncomfortable. When I asked to speak with the manager, he told me in a hostile tone that there was no manager available and that I had to deal with him.
Feeling frustrated, I decided to try on another pair of shoes, but the same employee approached me again and rudely asked, "Who told you that you could touch and try on merchandise without my permission?"
Determined to find a resolution, I continued to look around the store and eventually found the manager. When I explained my situation, the manager simply stated that "all the shoes on display cannot be tried on by customers unless authorized by an employee," without offering any apology or solution. This lack of concern made it clear why the employees mistreat customers.
Additionally, the store was disorganized, with shoe boxes scattered everywhere, making it difficult to move around comfortably. The combination of poor customer service and disorganization made me feel undervalued as a customer.
In summary, the combination of unhelpful staff and a messy store led to a very negative experience. I would not recommend visiting the JD store at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a few returns from an online order and the process was easy enough. The website online to get the return slip was a little confusing, but as far as my in store experience I was greeted upon arrival and they helped process the return. No complaints.
I do like this storeās inventory as well. I didnāt have time to shop in the store today but they typically have really great items in there so Iām sure Iāll be back next time Iām back in the Galleria.
I will also say customer service has been slow here in the past but thatās typical in a mall especially if you are going during peak hours, but the store itself has ALWAYS been very well organized and clean, which for me is really important for any shopping experience. I donāt have to dig through so much inventory to find things Iām looking for and the store has a really nice...
