My appointment was cancelled, without my consent, by non medical personnel who said I “didn’t need that specialist” less than 24 hours before my visit was scheduled to take place.
We are constantly asked to book on my chart, which I did. Made all the arrangements for my other daughters planned for the hour drive to get there and confirmed my appointment directly with the physicians office I was scheduled to see.
Then less than 24 hours before my scheduled visit, I got a phone call from the general tch number that said someone needed to speak to me about her visit. While I called back I got a message in my chart saying someone cancelled my appointment. When I called back to find out what happened, I was told my daughter doesn’t need this specialist. Despite the fact that in my chart when I booked the appointment, I clicked her exact diagnosis of hypotonia and was referred to this specific office and physician. They offered to reschedule me months later for a general neurologist, in tears I took it. And when I signed into MyChart to see the new appointment, I found out it’s in the exact same clinic, except instead of seeing a physician they moved me to see a nurse practitioner. Now, I have no problems with NPs, I am a nurse. However, in the case of a first time specialist evaluation for a neurological diagnosis, I requested to see a neurologist that specialized in an specific area. And a non medical administrator for the hospital, not even for the physicians office, decided I don’t need to be seen by this specialist. So this hospital lets corporate decide who needs medical care, not medical Professionals. Since when does a non medical person triage what patient needs what specialist? Absolutely disgusted by this institution. I had my first two kids here, all of them get care at tch, but I will not be returning. This here is a prime example of when corporate greed takes precedence over the health of our children and loved ones. I would warn anyone thinking of seeking care here to...
Read moreTerrible experience, I took my 8 year old son because he fell on his head. He chipped his tooth and had a welt on his head. Just wanted to get him checked out bc he got the wind knocked out of him. While waiting my 5 month old daughter woke up and started screaming in pain. She has been fighting a fever all week. I felt good bc I was already at the er I go to sign her in the check in lady helps trying to hear over my daughters cry she was very nice and saw me struggling she didn’t make me work harder trying to get my information My anxiety sets in bc nobody is helping my daughter everyone hears her screaming in agony I finally yell “CAN SOMEBODY HELP MY BABY?!” And a lady comes from behind the counter annoyed. “What’s wrong with her? Ok she’s crying?” As if ok is that it? You brought her bc she’s crying? She had an unsympathetic tone. She got even more annoyed when she couldn’t hear me over my daughter crying. She was extremely rude. We wait in the lobby and get called to the back hrs later. They check my kids vitals and never come back. My daughter starts screaming in pain again and I’m looking out the door the see if I can find a doctor and nobody comes they act as if they don’t see me holding my crying baby looking for help. After 6 hrs I decide to leave and try another place. I spent my last 15 dollars on my kids bc they were hungry I explained that to the valet and he was extremely rude he kept saying “We don’t give out free vehicles” “we don’t accommodate people here!” When I told him I had to feed my two boys his response was “I thought you said you didn’t have any money?!” It wasn’t even my money it was borrowed bc we were there for so long my boys were hungry. Thankfully someone graciously paid my valet and thank you for that. After tonight’s experience I pray I never have to go back. I will visit another ER before I ever...
Read moreMany years ago a situation came up where someone I knew had to take a child here because of suicide threats. The hospital would not allow the parents to leave despite a refusal to administer antidepressants or medication to the child. The hospital would not treat the child, but would not allow transfer of care to other facilities without their involvement. The parents and child did not get to leave for 36 hours. No one got to sleep. Eventually the child was transferred to West Oaks Hospital which was absolutely terrible. Approximately $175 worth of the child's clothing was stolen. There was human waste smeared on the walls of the bathrooms at West Oaks in the admission area at the front desk. Texas Children's provides a terrible lack of mental health care for children at the ER. Parents need a place to sleep for such an extended visit. If a parent wants to leave with their child against hospital wishes to seek care elsewhere for their child, they should not be wrongfully imprisoned at the hospital ER waiting for an ambulance to pick up the child to go to another facility. That is all unnecessary in most cases. That is poor patient care and lack of regard for the well-being of all involved by the hospital. They should be ashamed. The people I knew will never return to the hospital for patient care because of those...
