This is a review of the car stereo technicians which I believe are part of the Geek Squad at the Best Buy in Idaho Falls. I recently purchased a new head unit for a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee I'd bought used for my wife (well, maybe for me too, lol) and needed to upgrade the head unit so she'd have Bluetooth handsfree calling and a backup camera. I wound up buying several other components (wiring harness, antenna connection, dash install kit) so there was a lot of fiddly wiring stuff and wiring that had to be run throughout the car. I was the first appointment in the morning and found the two techs on staff were super cheerful and communicative. When I made the appointment online it said it would likely take 2 1/2 hours for the install so I'd planned accordingly and the techs said it was fairly involved so they suggested some flexibility in that timing which I was happy to give them since I had a friend come pick us up and take us to Costco to shop while we waited and you never really know how things will go until you get into these kinds of jobs. That being said, he told me they would be tag teaming my job because they didn't have another vehicle scheduled until later that morning so they'd update me. I got the phone call an hour and a half later while eating a hotdog at Costco that it was complete. When I arrived to pick up the Jeep they took the time to walk my wife and I though the basic operation of the new unit including pairing her phone and explaining how to use Apple CarPlay (which is fantastic by the way if you have an iPhone and have never used it like us). Initially when we plugged in her phone with the cable it wouldn't connect and the tech said, "Is that just a generic (i.e. cheap) charging cable?". She said it was so he grabbed one of his actual charge AND data cables and it immediately connected and once it did he went through all the AirPlay operation functions as well. Everything worked, the AirPlay connection, the backup camera (huge upgrade) and even the steering wheel controls for the radio. You couldn't tell they'd touched the car either and I saw what it looked like with all the various panels off throughout the car to get all the wiring run from front to back and into the rear hatch. They did a FANTASTIC JOB! I realize a lot of folks haven't had that experience with the tech side of things but I can refer their car audio installers unreservedly and am happy to do so. If you have an old car that needs an upgrade I wouldn't hesitate to catch a sale at Best Buy and use their installation service which I believe is actually INCLUDED with the purchase of any head unit over $250. You won't be disappointed and the cheerful professional service their techs provided was really refreshing considering the terrible state of...
Read moreHad a gaming pc that ran like a charm before it was brought in. I brought it in so they could add the old harddrive form my previous PC into the new one for more storage. I got it back and the old hard drive that ran absolutely terribly was now what the pc was running on. I had to take it back for them to fix it yet again. After that time the SSD that the pc was originally running on hot corrupted. Had to take it it yet again. They got the ssd working again and got it not running off of the old slow hard drive from my previous PC. hard to start essentially all over. Fine. Now put back on windows 10 (originally on 11) and redownload everything I had. Tried to up date drivers recently and had to take it in again. This is my 4th trip to Best Buy from a town over. Hopefully they can actually “fix” this too. Please just go somewhere else.
The workers are very polite and willing to help. Unfortunately there isn’t much of a quality check on products when they are...
Read moreHorrible customer service skills! They can't keep the status updated, can't ever answer a phone, and went to the store and waited 30 minutes to speak to someone. Theu stated that they would have our computer done today and that we would be contacted. That never happened. Had our computer for well over 48 hrs and no information about what was being done or status update was ever provided. We did find out that it wasn't even done and we have wasted our time, money, gas to figure this all out when they could have just simply answered a phone or put uo a status update like they are suppose to do. We also had to wait for someone to even see us while we were dropping it off to be repaired. Over all the lack of communication and horrible customer service I should have gone to a local business computer tech. I would not recommended geek squad! I will give an update tomorrow as thats when its suppose to be as of what...
