This mini golf course was fun. It had interesting scenery and variety in holes. I do think that there should be a warning on Google/ in their advertising/ signs on the front of their club house. This place is not in any way friendly for those with disabilities. There are a minimum of 100 steps throughout. Steps are very steep. It is like they set out to put as many steps as possible when designing this place. Also the way it's designed- if you start and don't realize that you weren't up for the amount of steps- there is no easy way for you to exit without having to either do all the steps you just did in reverse- or get to the 11th hole which has a short-cut back to the clubhouse. Partway through our adventure, an attendant did come out and warn us that there were many more steps ahead and to offer a raincheck for a different course- but this was a bit too little too late. Also, they have a policy of not allowing people to watch without playing - they did allow an exception to this policy for us- but I think this is a bad policy on principle. If they had an attendant hand out balls or clubs- they could abolish this policy pretty easily. Edit after their reply: an "adventure " style theme does not explicitly say that this experience is not disability friendly- an adventure theme could just be the pirate ship or the alligators. If you're going to operate a place that is not ADA compliant- you should be forced to explicitly warn people of that in your sinage and online listing. 2 stars from...
Read moreAlligator feeding is fun but too expensive as is the golfing itself. $15 to golf and 4 nickel sized alligator pellets for 4 dollars. So in a way I would say this is a tourist trap but I was not a tourist and didn't enjoy the higher prices. But the golfing greens / holes are nice and the detail / themes are good. Maybe lower the price for locals if you show your drivers license? I would not hide behind an excuse that this is what other mini golf places charge as I see in other review responses. That doesn't make it right. If I ran a for pleasure business, that only contributes limited fun to society for about thirty minutes, at 30 dollars an hour per person, I wouldn't expect to be sleeping well at night knowing I cost a family a lot of money and the kids don't really know the value of a dollar. This isn't an amusement park for crying out loud. You charge what the market will bare but kids are the ones who want to do this kind of thing so give us parents a break and build your million dollar home with some other kind of business. Not all Smuggler's Cove locations are on a beach but they all have the same price of 15 dollars. Not my business but I am not the only one who said you are...
Read moreMake sure to buy alligator food when you get there to feed the gators! After the first few holes, they have the area where there are "fishing poles" that you clamp the food onto and dangle it out to the gators. A very safe and fun experience for all ages. Alcohol and beverages are available in the club house at the beginning but buy more than 1 drink if possible so you don't get lost trying to get back to the clubhouse (it's a very intricate course) or have to wait until atleast halfway through the course to get to the path back to the clubhouse. Smoking is allowed as it's all outdoors. Each hole has cupholders for drinks. The course is not wheelchair or stroller accessible; there are stairs throughout. It tends to get very crowded after sunset, probably due to the cooler temperatures because there is little to no shade on most of the course.
